First, thanks to the mods for moving the thread.

Secondly, there are a number of people who have said over and over again that they like the cd, and what does being a "Prince girl" have to do with anything? Does it grant one some special privilege?

Third, as you have read, there's people who believe that some of the posts within the past couple of months by brand new members on the Bria topic are suspect. That's all I'm gonna say about that since I'm not accusing anybody of anything. Suffice it to say that people resent what they percieve as manufactured praise.

Forth, how does stating hatred for Tamar make Bria's cd any better or worse? I don't see how the catty comments help her.

Finally, while not exactly memorable, the cd is pleasant enough so at least that's something for her to build on. I wish her well so here's a few suggestions...

Sometimes it's helpful for a person to examine the constructive criticism they get and look for ways to improve. Dwelling on negative comments is a waste of time, however.

Prince used poor judgement when he initially compared her to Sade because he basically set her up for an unfavorable comparison. It would have been better if he had emphasized her sound as something fresh/new.

Speaking of Prince, there have been many observations, for and against, regarding his mentoring of proteges over the years. Whatever the case, anyone associated with him would be wise to study his work ethic. As wonderfully talented as he is, he didn't get where he is today by goofing around, he earned it. A lot of serious practice and study helped him to achieve his goals. He didn't have any special privileges, he had to prove himself. If that were not true he would still be playing in Andre's basement. Someone without his natural ability needs to work ever harder...all he can give them is the opportunity.

I don't know if Bria intended to record a cd just for the heck of it or if she wants a long career in entertainment. If it's the latter, perhaps a vocal coach is a option? A coach could help her to broaden her range, make her voice more interesting and give her more of a singer's perspective on performing, (no disrespect to Prince and Mr. Hayes). Even the best singers are always finding ways to improve, nothing wrong with that.

That would be time better spent for someone in her position. Good luck to her.
