What I find way more disturbing and creepy than his sexual relationship with a 17/18 year old - then again I'm also one of these "whorish europeans" who live in a country where the age of consent is 15 - is the power and control, a thirty something superstar inevitable will have over a teenager, and he certainly didn't seem to shy away from abusing his power in any way.

(On her birthday) their long delayed sexual coupling finally occurred. Quickly she fell very much in love with him. Garcia often found herself longing, though, for a life in which he was not famous and in which she could play a more substantially role. Invariably she found that his friends and associates in MPLS just viewed her as just another "Prince girlfriend", rather than an individual.
The couple spent most of their social time together at home watching videos, very rarely going out.
Prince frequently brought her to PP , where she would sit for hours and watch him work.
Among the stranger aspects of their relationship was how astonishingly competitive he was with her. One afternoon in the studio, to relieve Garcia’s boredom, he brought her into the drum booth and showed her how to bang the sticks against the skins. When he left for a few minutes, she continued to play and added rhytmic embellishments to her rudimentary beat. Abruptly a sternfaced Prince walked in. "All right, that’s enough" he said. It seemed he was worried Garcia was already becoming too good a drummer, and that this interfered with his concept of a demure, submissive girlfriend.
His passion for winning emerged especially around family members. When (his father) visited for a game of pool with his son, Prince was a picture of intensity behind the cue stick. Mostly out of politeness Garcia offered encouraging comments about Nelson (senior)’s playing. Prince shot her a dirty look. After the game he confronted her angrily, saying he couldn’t believe that she had rooted for someone other than him; his sense of betrayal appeared genuine.
"He always talked about how important it was to be best at something" she remembered "He seemed obsessed with that - being the best".

Life in Minneapolis with Prince started to feel confining and dull. Prince’s mindgames grated on her, particularly when he used these manipulations to prevent Garcia from persuing her own interests. When she told him she had offered a film role in Europe, for instance, he began treating her coldly. "Well, I’ll guess you’ll have to be there, not here" he said. Convinced by his oblique behaviour that she might loose him, if she left, she turned down the role.
Prince also urged Garcia to repress her emotions, refusing to hear anything that smacked og negativity. If she complained about an unpleasant plane flight, he would hush her immediately. "Let’s pretend that you had just appeared".
Nor did he want to talk about her experiences that had shaped her own life, such as her childhood.
"Don’t talk about the past, because you don’t have one" he said on more than one occasion.
Garcia also learned, like so many of Prince’s girlfriends before her, that he had little interest in monogamy.

Garcia had had enough and moved back to London in early 1990. Prince stayed in touch on the phone, but Anna found herself less and less interested in his musings, which rarely touched her interests.
Little had been accomplished on the Anna Fantastic project; Prince had too much else to do and seemed unable to focus on it. They did collaborate on "Fantasia Erotica", which Prince would later use for Carmen Electra, without acknowleding Garcia’s contributions.
"He should’ve been fair about it and given me my credit. But I was young, so I guess you live and learn".

(The last time they spoke, Prince called her to complain about Basinger’s departure for G.B)
He told Garcia that he needed help, which she interpreted as an offer to star in the movie. Uninterested in beeing a backup option, she bluntly told him he should get on with his life.
He seemed hurt, but continued to vent about his problems looking for some expression of support.
"Kim let me down. It’s too bad Graffiti Bridge could’ve been a big hit for her".
Garcia no longer willing to serve as a security blanket told him she had friends waiting outside and had to go.
"That was quick" he said, disappointed and surprised that she wouldn’t drop her plans to listen to his moanings.
They never spoke again.

Another silly little girl who was after love everlasting - and didn't understand the role of a muse.

Not all her fault, of course - that's what parents are supposed to be for.

In as much as stories like these are often done preemptively to spare celebrities even trickier situations. Another example would be the Will Smith "open marriage" story. Came out of the blue. At the time, folks scratched their heads: "Who cares? Why mention this now?" I get the same vibe from this.

Besides, "The Morning Papers" and many other parts of the Symbol album suggest some familiarity on Prince's part with the topic of negotiating age and romance.

A: Partyman, Madhouse. There’s a lot more than that but I don’t remember specific titles, but I was definitely an inspiration for him at that time. Lemon crush was my favorite drink and Vicky Waiting was originally Anna Waiting which he wrote as a gift for me for my 18th birthday. He actually asked me if he could change it to Vicky Waiting for the Batman soundtrack.

U sang on the song Partyman, was that the first song u worked on with him?

A: No. I wrote Fantasia Erotica with him which in fact was going to be my song instead of Carmen Electra. I didn’t mind Carmen singing it she did a good job, but he could have been fair about it and given me my writers credits. I was young and didn’t know or think of things like that, I guess you live and learn.

What was it like 2 work with him?

A: I can’t really give a professional opinion on that because at the time I was head over heels in love with him and everything he wrote was absolutely wonderful to me. At the time I had too many personal emotions attached to my relationship with him to really say.

When did you first meet Prince?

A: In London when I was 15, about the time Under the Cherry Moon came out

Did he cook 4 u?

A: He may have made toast. I do remember that he always made me cups of tea with lots of honey. He had a cook and she would cook any time of the day or night whenever he fancied something, so he never cooked.

Did u live with him, share a bed? Sorry to ask but what is he like on a regular day? Jeans? T shirt?

A: I lived with him in Minneapolis and when I moved in he called me Anna Fantastic and my real name is Anna Garcia so I thought that was cute. He was nice, interesting, a good listener and liked to have a laugh. He really didn’t want to hear bad news and wanted everything good, he only wanted to hear about the good stuff. As far as what he wore, most of his clothes were designed and made for him but he did have some jeans also designed for him. He didn’t wear t shirts much at all. He really always dressed the same way as you see him in videos and press photos and album covers. If not that it would be silk Pyjamas.

He wrote the song Pink cashmere 4 u. Do u still have the coat?

A: Yes I do. Actually I just came back from Europe over the holidays visiting my family and brought it back with me.

What other items do u have that he gave u?

A: I’m the type of person that likes to keep things that have sentimental value like little notes from friends in school when I was about 10 and movie tickets from certain occasions, so yes I would definitely have some things like photos, clothes, letters and tapes which all have a memory attached to them. Not because it’s Prince per se, but because it’s part of my life. Maybe one day I’ll put it all together in a memories book beginning to end (not for public release but for myself).

Why did u 2 break up?

A: We never really formally broke up. It all startes when I got an offer for a record deal in England when I was 19. Prince wanted me to work only with hin and I didn’t want to be looked at as an artist that only made it because she was the girlfriend of Prince. I wanted to do it on my own. I began working on my album and spending less and less time with him back home in Minneapolis then one day I never came back. He still called me when I was in England and when I moved to Holland he didn’t have any numbers to reach me and I never called him. It sounds a bit crazy but that’s how it ended.

What was the last thing u said 2 each other?

A: He called me in London when I was about to go out with some friends and I said I have a taxi waiting I have to go. This may have been the last time we spoke, I’m not 100 % sure and I don’t remember excactly what he said to me, but I remember him sounding a bit disappointed and saying somethin like:That was quick, because we had just got on the phone.

What did u learn from your relationship with Prince?

A: How 2 play mindgames and manipulate people. HAHAHA
Not really, I’m being sarcastic now.

I learned how to drive and got my dl when I was there. One day I was driving his white vintage convertible Buick Wildcat the one from Under the Cherry Moon and I had just got my dl and I drove myself home from the studio and I wrecked the whole right side when I was pulling into the garage. When I called him at the studio and told him about what had happened the first thing he said was Are you alright. He sent the car to the bodyshop and had it fixed. But he never got angry about it.

A: I would say yes, no big deal really. What one person finds normal another may not, so who am I to determine what is normal or not. It was definitely nothing involved that would break the law. Any stunning revelations? No stunning revelations, but if anyone else has any I would love to hear. LOL!

Prince recently got married 4 the 2nd time and has found a new life in his strong religious beliefs. What do you think of his new found thruths?

A: I’m happy that he’s happy because he’s gone through so much these last several years. I don’t know what his new found thruth is so I couldn’t really say, as long as he’s content with his beliefs that’s all that really matters. I know he got married on my birthday.

The Playboy thing was of Anna's own doing and he didn't like that, just as he didn't like the thought of her appearing in a european movie or working with other record producers. Nothing new about him wanting total control of girlfriends and protegees and them eventually leaving him because of it.

I just came 2 realize something interesting..i do see the connection between anna and mayte. Both have the same last name, both met prince as teenagers and in Europe..Both their parents didnt seem to mind prince being around their daughters when they were underage and both lost their virginity to him . It seems as though prince would of have had married anna if she didn't posed for playboy or for whatever reason they couldn't be together..i think that is why he felt instantly attracted to mayte, he might of saw a resemblance between her and anna .
