Wendy and Lisa spoke to LA Times Pop Music critic Ann Powers Monday night at USC's Annenberg School of Communication. http://latimesblogs.latim...ndy-a.html I "live twittered" highlights of the conversation, that's what follows (with some additional commentary added in brackets): Just met @felacity, talked to wendy and lisa ch, @renatak and @annkpowers Wendy baffled at how to make a pc work "this is not a macintosh!" www.twitpic.com/2mim0 Blasting salt n' cherries at request of @annkpowers, who is dancing in her chair. "this is an album that expresses desire in a lot of different ways" @annkpowers Playing selections from the heroes score cd @wendyandlisa [The girls explained that for this cd (out soon), there are full tracks based on the cues used for specific characters. [Powers mentioned Prince, Seal, Grace Jones, as well] Omg wendy talking about working w madonna [Wendy said she and Madonna met a few times throughout the years and have a mutual respect for one another. When it was time to play the part for "She's Not Me", Wendy went in to the studio, played the piece, then asked Madonna if that was what she wanted] And now the talk of Prince and how @wendyandlisa's contribution has not been adequately ackowledged. [Powers mentioned Ozzy and Randy Rhodes, and a few other males and their male contributors who are known and recognized for what they contributed and wondered why Wendy and Lisa are not more widely recognized for their contributions to Prince. Wendy said, among other things, that a lot of fans have raised the flag for them over the years] @annkpowers asking @wendyandlisa about introducing Prince to the fairlight Wendy doing vocal impersonations of the history of electronic music evolution Lisa on how electronics have changed music: it's like having more colors in the crayon box. Wendy quoting d.m.s.r. in regard to diversity: white, black, puerto rican... Lisa advice to others pursuing music: know when to be vain, when to be confident. Wendy's: try to work with somebody you trust and care about http://twitpic.com/2mmv1 http://twitpic.com/2mmsd http://twitpic.com/2mlw5 [Edited 4/21/09 14:54pm] http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista | |
