Can't lay all the blame on Bria though. the poor thing was doing the best she could with what she got...which appears to be very limited. It seems like she was singing in a way that is not natural to her and it comes off as forced to me. There is no life in any of the songs. She may very well be a good singer, but not for the material she was given. (But then again, I heard some good singers take some bad stuff and rip it up!). Bria sounds more "POP" to me.

Yeah ur right about that. Prince has always tried to control the way his proteges sing. Take for instance Paul Peterson. I always thought he could have become more famous if prince had not of f***ed him up. In my opinion he could have been the one man version of Hall and Oates.

my take on Elixer... I like most of the songs, maybe just because I love P but Im not seeing her being a huge success. No offense, but shes not that cute. Money and make up can give you some "class" and some love in the looks department but she really isnt attractive to me.

Comparing her to other Prince girls... shes got a very long way to go.

Ah well, to each his own. hmm

Wow - almost no mention of the actual music. Oh well, the woman is beautiful and easily ranks near the top as far as Prince chicks are conerned - unlike his last female protege that almost everyone was tired of from day one.

Please - Prince didnt damage him. If Paul had it, we would have heard it by now. That is the excuse of all these failed ex-Prince spinoffs. THey jump out there and get noticed without being in Prince's camp and then they find out it isnt that easy and they arent that good. THat goes for WEndy and Lisa, too.

Princes' so called "spin-offs" as you call them did what any inspiring artist would do back in the day. They tried to get with someone, in this case Prince, (who was at the top of his game in the 80's )who promised them success. Instead of helping their career he used them to boost his own. In a way prince damaged them. As for Wendy and Lisa I think it is well known that that have done very well for themselves without Prince. They are known for their own work now. And any true fan would know that "they" were big contributing factors to Princes' work as well.

I agree about Prince controlling some of his singers. However, Paul Peterson aka St. Paul has had decades after his time with Prince to make a mark and he hasn't. I don't think you can blame Prince for his failure to be "the one man version of Hall and Oates."

clapping I completely agree with you, especially about Wendy & Lisa. The W&L fans around here refuse to admit that they were not that good. The claims that Prince was threatened by them are so ridiculous and unfounded. He has had countless hit songs since they split. However, the same cannot be said for the girls. They are good at what they do, but their legend has been grossly overinflated by some Prince fans. Their biggest contributions were on ATWIAD and Parade, and Prince wrote "Kiss," the biggest hit from those albums, solo. On the PR 20th Anniversary DVD, they even talked about how "on" Prince was while writing that album. So, I am always confused about the W&L lore around here.
