[Edited 3/29/09 3:09am] Interesting moments on here? Like what? "He licks her.. he licks her..." I find licking pussies very interesting. I don't know about you, though.

Yeah, we can expect something like this from Prince. But in my eyes you could replace Bria and her voice easily. Dancing helps relieve the pain. Soothes your mind, makes you happy again!!!

Otherwise he wouldn't have chosen her (he's celibate )!

I finally listened to this CD (after listening to "Mplsound" and "Lotusflow3r" twice - lol). I gotta say, I like it. This is a great CD to put on after the end of a long day, when you just want to chill out and relax. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

So far I've only listened to this CD, and only to "Here I Come", "Everytime", and "Another Boy".
I think I'll be listening to these songs on repeat for a while before I listen to the rest of the CD or any of the other CD's, maybe except for "4ever". Guess it's just the mood I'm in that I only want to hear these songs. Still got plenty of time to listen to it. . [Edited 3/29/09 16:26pm]

This is MUCH better than I thought it'd be. With Dr. F'berry even panning it on his site, this seemed like it would be trash. I wonder if that wasn't by design, in retrospect (lower the expectations, be pleasantly surprised).
Most of these are decent songs. Elixer is nice. Prince seemed to bring an old-school sensibility to a neo-soul track. And, Clare.... What's not to love about CF's colors?

I don´t understand why so many people here dislike this album. It´s quite good for what it is, there have been far worse protege albums in the past and this one actually contains a lot of decent songs, and her voice is not that bad, either. It´s a nice little chill out album. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

If you take it for what it is and don't overanalyze the crap out of it you'll find a nice, cool, laid back, smooth, little album.
I like it a lot. Yes the vocals aren't that strong but they don't suck and the production is perfect. It's a great "chill out" record. Lotus,MPL, and then Elixer makes for a nice listening experience. Cheers Prince. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

"Sunday Afternoon Dreamy," is how I felt by the cd's end. The music is pleasantly pretty. Yes...Pretty suits the album well. I was laying on the deck bathing in the sun and windy winds...It was a perfect mixture of degree and tempo. Elixer is a glass of class. ahhh.. lisa keith...you got it right there. I haven't listened to her cd in ages but the voice is nearly as warming as hers.

The music alone blew away PLANET EARTH. I wasn't it's biggest fan.
I've listened to the disc once..very impressed by the drums, the arrangements, very well-crafted and solid. Several songs have the conga Latin/Caribbean/Worldly vibe like Te Amo Corazon, I'm getting a feeling these were offshoots from that period of creation by Prince. Bria has a smoooooth voice, soft and luscious. Yummy. Makes me feel all soft and glowy inside. Of course this could also be subconscious adolescent fantasies re-ignited since her voice sounds a lot like Olivia Newton-John in parts. I had a crush on her growing up. Anyway ELIXIR is a wonderful surprise! First listen I enjoyed it's production, instrumentation, and mixing elements in a poppy/jazzy format better than Lotusflow3r, which is recycled rock with the same instruments and tone (in general) Prince has been doing this past decade (it's still jamming though, but no major new sounds as his history attests).

I like this album alot and I really don't listen to alot of R&B stuff these days, so that's saying alot for me. Good music to play in the background at some party. Weird, I listened to this album from start to finsih and couldn't get through all of Lotusflower and MPLSound.

me either. I'll listen, eventually, but the first few seconds made me scared and I had to turn it off. My Legacy

I haven't listened to any of the albums straight through yet, just skipped around and listened to some of the ones mentioned in the forum that people liked a lot. As for this album, I've only listened to the songs that we've had to preview before the albums came out. Now that I think about it, it's because I'm listening to it in my car, which I'm not in all the time.

Anxiety said: CarrieMpls said: Really? I listened to about 20-30 seconds of each song on the Bria album and it sounds like smooth jazz adult contemporary R&B to me - pretty much the epitome of music I hate. Nothing against the people who like that, different strokes and all. Just not my thing. Am I wrong, though? Is there something else there? well, i'm comparing it to the smoother, more mellow/jazzy stuff prince has done in the past...for example, a lot of the album reminds me a lot of "pink cashmere". that might be too mellow for you, and that's cool. i enjoy stuff like astrud gilberto and sade, so some of the stuff on bria's album hits a happy chord with me. i like that the album is so consistent in this style, since a typical prince album is so all over the place. i just wish prince would do an album for/by himself like this. If I get what you're saying, I would agree. And it's actually true of the 3 discs. Prince compartmentalized himself well here so they each have consistency. Usually a Prince album is not good background music because it demands attention by shifting gears like crazy It's one way his music is lacking, you can't put it on for atmosphere. And this bria album sounds like it has that quality--assuming you want that quality! My Legacy

I really like it. My fav Prince female protege is Sheila E. I would dare 2 say its better than any of her Albums Prince produced. Prince would only give Sheila E. one hit song per album the rest were filler trax.....I grade it b+
Ps.. Jill Jones album is the closest 2 this cd.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

The album's not bad, though I was laughing at the Benny & the Jets moment (Lotus has Voodoo Child, this has Benny, what does MPLSound sample?)
The problem is that her voice, while pleasant, just doesn't pack much of an emotional punch. It's okay. Not that sexy. Just doesn't have the depth of the rest of the music, or of Prince's singing. The music is quite good, naturally. Like Come 2 My House, I like the freedom that prince has when playing music for someone else, but unlike that album, it's not Chaka. My Legacy

I just conceded and listened to every track on this album. Three comments:
1) Overall, the instrumentation is splendorous. 2) "2 Nite" seemingly was made for Janet Jackson, or with her in mind. 3) I am still not a fan or admirer of Valente's vocals. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

I like this CD more than I thought I would. Bria doesn't have a strong voice but it's not unpleasant. I really dig "Another Boy", "Kept Woman", "Home", "Everytime" and "Elixir". Prince did a great job with the production too. I'm actually happy that the music doesn't sound like typical Prince music. She sounds like her own person singing, even if the lyrics are his. It really isn't bad and I'm glad that I have this. I wish Bria success. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
