FIRST.
On the 3 Bria songs we've heard so far, I love the instrumentation.

I played this first and it ain't bad. It ain't the best but it ain't bad. To Sir, with Love

Ive only gotten through half of it and i already like it better than Tamar's album (and I didn't think her's was half bad). Change it one more time..

All this love is great! She has some real vocal skills and the production quality is very good so far. Pleasantly suprised. Home is cool, lyrics are a highlight here. Still listening on...

I gave it a fair listen, tried not to remember hearing her music pre-Prince and the songs already previewed from the album.
To be fair its a palatable, The Wave (ac radio station) adult format album with mediocre vocals. Breathy and Sweet at times but mostly nutrasweet and contrived. No real vocal ability other than whispers and an occasional strain. Highlights Elixer (because of Prince and the quirky melody) and All This Love. Melody great on that too. Lowlights Another Boy is a song I just found out used to be called Another Girl that Prince wrote for Lisa Hernandez and Kept Woman was written for Tamar and imo sounded better with her singing it. Her singing "stow" "witchoo" "fo" "do" (for door). It's like, the bitch aint hood, come on! The contrived slang and every word punctuated with a wanna be sexy snarl. Christina Aguilera does that too and its ANNOYING. But overall, the fans will probably like it and I just listened to it so I can tell Nurse V I did. At least its no Carmen, Mayte or Panamaniac (that shit was awful)! 3/4 out of 5 stars I changed my rating cus I listened to it for the second and last time and its better than the initial listen but not much better for a third. It's like listening to tissue paper play on a record player or eating cotton candy and feeling sick and still hungry. Funny thing is, I love r and b and this is just..... [Edited 3/25/09 11:27am]

All This Love and Everytime are great. Everything else is well-done but kind of boring to me.

I burned this onto CD so I could physically smash it to dust. A ridiculous fart of an album. Ridiculous fart.

I gotta hear this. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

i like it but i also liked the tamar album and stuff like
chaka's npg album or such. it's post emancipation prince r'n'b. i would have minded if these songs had been on his own album but collected here and performed by bria i dig them and appreciate them. her voice is nice enough, i don't understand all the hate toward this woman. it's not like she's ever done anything to any of you. oh and by the way, the title track is a very good track it's my fav of the album. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Apart from the title track, i'm not digging it. Very bland production and songs that aren't memorable. * * *

I must hear this CD. I just finished the other 2 so it's perfect timing. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I am shocked, but this album is excellent. Props to Bria.
Her voice is beautiful. You can play some of her music at dinner very low, while enjoying conversation, in a club setting and dance to it without braking a sweat, and in the living room with a glass of Port, red wine or Welcher's Grape Juice. She has a very soothing and soft voice. God doesn't just tells me how much he "LOVE's" me, God shows me how much he "LOVE's" me. Both telling and showing "LOVE" means to "LOVE". They go hand in hand. You can't have one with out the other. Something is spoken, then followed by an action. That is

I know that Prince fans tend to have bad taste, so I will most likely love her album. I've heard 4 songs and like all four. haters. All you others say Hell Yea!!

I'm listening to this one for the first time, and was shocked to hear the synth on the start of the track 'Home'.. it took me a while to figure out what song it reminded me of, but the last chords are the same as the synth hook for New Kids On the Block - The Right Stuff, just a bit slower.

I like this album more than I expected to. I didn't expect Prince on co-lead on the title track - a pleasant surprise. I was like - damn, she sounds like a man on this one!

I'm pleasantly surprised...I really like this album!!! it's smooth and puts me in a relaxing mood. Here's my review...
Here Eye Come - liked it the first time I heard it. It has a flow that I can't deny. All This Love - when I heard the 30 second clip, I thought this song sucked, but I was surprised that this is one of my favorite songs on the album. The chorus has me singing along. Home - Typical sounding song. Heavy on the synths - it's tolerable. Something U Already Know - For some reason, this song has me in a trance. Maybe because I was so tired when I heard it I like it. Everytime - Te Amo Corazon part 2. Sounds like something I would put on to relax during a bubble bath or something. 2Nite - Maybe it's the beat but I like this a lot. I wouldn't play it at a club, but it has a groove to it. Another Boy - typical rnb song layout. Nothing fascinating about it Kept Woman - I liked this song every since I heard Tamar sing it on her cancelled album. Tamar sang it better, but Bria did okay with it. Immersion - the only one I'd skip in the album Elixir - The best song on the album by far Nice play on words Elixer = He Licks Her Wouldn't mind some of that! LOL I'll have to hear it again to really get all the sexual innuendos going on in there but I feel it's one of the best duets Prince has done in a while. All in all, I find that it's a solid album... a 7 out 0f 10. Wow, who knew? [Edited 3/25/09 10:50am] [Edited 3/25/09 10:58am] follow me on twitter - Lovenharmony1 aka @DAPfan2c

This album was beautifully done!!!
I absolutely love every song on it except immersion. That Elixer duet is so incerdible there are no words!!! All this love is jazzy and has a nice playful energy to it Home is a killer track for that beat and the lyrics (listen closely i think he wrote this about Bria IMO), Something you already know is witty and sexy, love this Everytime made me cry its so romantic 2nite is a solid dance track another boy is classic r&b tune with great vocal delivery Kept woman I thought sounded much better than Tamars version. Although Tamar is vocally stronger, Brias vulnerable and sometimes strong vocal dynamics melded seamlessly with the energy of this song and its storyline. Immersion, sounds more like a vibe piece than a song, its ok Elixer, i am speechless!!!! Baby making music 4 1/2 out of 5 stars for me. I am in heaven with all 3 CDS!!!

Here I Come - The instrumentation and bass especially is inviting. This reminds me of something from the early to mid-90s, an enjoyable, if perfunctory intro that should fade out at 2 minutes.
All This Love - Down-tempo acid jazz. Like mid-90s 'Brand New Heavies'. Nice flute and bass and piano. "Sexy talk" rap in the middle is completely unnecessary, but is very brief thankfully. Home - Disappointing because I liked the mood in which the album seemed to be heading. This slow 'dance' number is devoid of a hook and the jagged synthline that repeats throughout and even replaces the chorus is silly and annoying. The track doesn't develop at all either. Shame. Something U Already Know - Another slow acid jazz type number. OK, but it would've completely passed me by had I not thought to concentrate on it though, it's the very epitomy of "album track", I did kind of get into it by the end though, I'll come back to it for another listen for sure. Everytime - Nice, little samba type mood. Cheesy and sentimental in a way only Prince can be. Warm sun, afternoon breeze..... zzzzz, *snort* Oh, yes, I drifted off then. 2Nite - Sounds out of date, and quite like something from Carmen Electra's album, but better than any 'dance' numbers on MPLSound. And what does that bouncy piano line remind me of, Ladies Night? Needs a better vocalist to lift it and I can do without the predictible glitzy Prince synths towards the end. Another Boy - Sounds pretty modern, but doesn't really do much for me. Next. Kept Woman - OK, the down-tempo acid jazz thing is back but this track flew past me, nothing really jumped out at me, neither here nor there. Immersion - Honestly I forgot this was playing till it faded out. This was recorded for Prince's upcoming chain of NPG crystal healing and floatation tank centers. Elixir - Another slow mid-90s type number. Prince duets, not sure if his whiney falsetto adds anything, could've done more with a deep baritone to offset Bria's own brittle whisp. I love the strings on this one, but the vocals grate on me. Overall: - They were thinking Sade? I hear Incognito in their less energetic down-tempo moments. Despite Bria herself having a completely unremarkable voice, the supposed duffer of the triple album set is actually a nice little slow Acid Jazz trip, which only falters when it strays from the mid-90s into the mid-00s for inspiration. Most tracks are needlessly over-long though with far too few musical ideas to go around, and it's hard to form any sort of attachment to Bria as a performer as she brings nothing distinctive to the record and you can't help but feel she'll be nothing more than a footnote by the time Prince has tired of his current projects.

I like this album alot more than I expected. I had very little hope in this album only because of the reviews, so my expectations were really low. Its better than Tamar's album by a long shot. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
