I really don't understand this meme around here that all protege releases suck and no Prince fans are interested in them. The music of The Time, Vanity/Apollonia 6, Sheila E., The Family, Mazarati, Madhouse, Jill Jones and Taja Sevelle were among the fond memories of my teenage years. I can remember the first time I heard "Get It Up", "777-9311", "Nasty Girl" and "The Glamorous Life" on the radio...in those pre-internet days reading magazines like Right-On, Black Beat and Rock & Soul to find out more about them and going over to my cousin's house (he had cable, I didn't ) to see the music videos on BET.

Sure things seemed to go south for associated acts for the most part after 1987 when Prince seemingly became less interested and involved and his choice of artists became more and more questionable, but enough good will was created in those "golden" days of 1981-1987 to keep me interested enough to at least give associated artists a chance, ESPECIALLY those where Prince is heavily involved like in the "Starr* Company" days. I find it fascinating the way Prince uses other singers' voices and personas as yet another musical ingredient in his stew.

Not everyone shares that interest to be sure, but by the same token not all Prince fans dismiss protege records summarily as "coasters" either.

I didn't notice it at first but yeah there are. I think it is what they call in the make-up world conturing (hope I spelled that right) it's what they do to people who want to make an illusion of one's face without having work done. They do it alot with people who have strong features like big nose or mouth it makes the feature appear smaller. I really don't think it works because you noticed the shadowing effect. But I do think this is the softest picture of Bria I have seen. I just don't like too much make-up on anyone unless your a showgirl and need it so people far away can see your face.

If you join Prince´s website you can buy Lotusflow3r and Mplsound separately. You would have to pay 77 dollars, but that´s a small price if you can avoid that horrible Bria CD.
