I'm also liking the concept album of a Mexicana from the pop world branching over into country. I've usually seen the reverse, so I'm looking forward to seeing her excercise her skills in this genre. She plays string instruments as well, and in a perfect world I would love to see her work with female virtuosoes like the Dixie Chicks....that could be really interesting and they could come up with some really killer string arrangments together | |

I'm into this concept of a black Mexicana trying something new from her usual genre! You know we haven't really had a black person representing on the country front since who, Charlie Pride in the 70's ?
Back in the 90's though, I remember there was a fantastic collaboration cd between country artists and r&b artists, very VH-1 adult contemporary market... I can't remember the name, but I remember I wore that damn record out because it was good! Anyway, I hope this project works well for her. She's 50 and this can be a whole new way to express herself creatively...not to mention a new way to keep her in pretty shoe money | |
