Is Wendy & Lisa's "Invisible" about Prince? Does anyone else think that "this is just another song about" Prince? The lyrics
are way too cocky to be taken seriously  . The line that makes me wonder
if they're actually poking fun at Prince and what they brought to the table as collaborative artist with Price is "What you believe in wont set you free - when your higher power is me". This kind of brings back memories of when Prince said the only way he would work with them again is if they denounced their homosexuality (in accordance with his Jahova Witness beliefs). Whomever the song is actually about, or if it's actually just fiction, I think the lyrics are hysterical! Musically it is a cohesive rockin jam and a truly memorable piece of art. Wendy and Lisa get major props for "Invisible" and "Salt & Cherries" (my two favorite tracks on the new album. But it would be interesting to find out just what/who was the muse for the raucous lyrics of "Invisible". Not A Newbie, Just Reinvented | |

Yeah, Ijust listened to it. I don't think its about Prince directly but it could certainly serve as a dual meaning lyrically.
"I am victory, you think I'm mercenary" and "And for a price, I make you feel something better every time - like when you were mine" could be a reference to how he has hired them to come back and record on occasion and how (as I have said many times before) feeds off other musicians' vibes and maybe at some point he told them that he enjoyed music more back when he was doing "When You Were Mine". I'm just guessing. I could be way off with this. | |

It might not have anything to do at all with Prince. I'm certainly the last one on this site to be waiving the all-roads-lead-to-Prince flag. Dude hasn't made a great album in the last decade or so in my opinion. I hadn't even heard the song before. I listened to it on youtube. | |

No one is saying that it's NOT "outside of direct experience" but there are some lines in the song that make you think...and that was the ONLY purpose of this thread - just some food for thought. And if you read BlaqueKnight's post they clearly reference Prince hiring Wendy & Lisa for recent appearances ("Reflections" on Tavis Smiley, the 3121 album, Planet Earth album ,The Brits Awards etc etc)It wasn't JUST about things from 22 years ago.Not A Newbie, Just Reinvented | |

See that was my first thought, but really...would you let your Ex or current lover publicly release a song that was so cocky and amusingly demeaning? If it IS actually about them, then Lisa puts up with A LOT of crap and Wendy is an egotistical mess LOL. Either way, I don't think the lyrics are to be taken seriously. I'm not as familiar with post Batman music (the behind the scenes stuff that is) But he has written songs that were about his 1st exwife Carmen Electra band members... In This Bed I Scream was dedicated to L & W and I think one of the things that made the earlier music so addictive was that there was a flesh n blood story behind a lot of it. Best fuel for song writing.
