Show your appreciation for Tony M. Tony M. seems to come in for a lot of flak on the Org.
The question is, do you think the following tracks would have been better without his contribution, or like me, do you think his input was vital to the recordings? - Sexy MF - My Name is Prince - Willing and Able - Push - Something Funky This House Comes - Gett Off Also, the tracks I chose feature my favourite Tony M appearances. What other tracks contain your best Tony M moments? -----------------------------------------

I liked Tony M. He brought alot to those songs, especially "Sexy Mf".He may not have been the world's greatest rapper, but he was cool.Imo,the 'Love Symbol' CD would have been flat without his contributions.

Everyone involved at the time was a critical part. As was the case with all other collaborations.

TRUE!!! Prince should have left all the rap elements out of his songs. And if you do it do it right, not some lame ass, middle class rapper. Tony M --------------------------------------------------

Tony M. was important to Prince in much the same way that Gene Gene the Dancing Machine was important to the Gong Show.
And that was pretty important, man.

Too true. If you don't like rap or hip hop to begin with, you wouldn't like any rapper Prince put on his album.
Someone made a great point on another Tony M. thread.Perhaps many of y'all just don't like rap in Prince's music at all? I for one, liked most of Tony's rapping--which, it should be noted, was used more like a 'solo' piece(see Live4love or I Rock...) than pure rapping. On top of that, Goldni**a was the best NPG album-mostly due to TM's inclusion on the album. In comparison, Exodus and NPS are sloppy and uninspired.

Tony M. He was ok.
I have 2 admit he was liked by me on the D&P & Symbol LP's, He was cute also, although when i saw the video 4 Call The Law with him falshing, that just turned me off of him... His raps were still coo' 4 a lil' bit. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

His raps were still coo' 4 a lil' bit. He used to scream too much live!!! (ah bring the mike bring the mike back!!!) "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

That wasn't Tony M.'s Rap on "I rock, therefore I am". Steppa Ranks and Scrap D. did the job. -----------------------------------------

I don't think people understood that, and songs like Live 4 Love stand out to me for the way Prince used rap without making the song a hip hop song. I love that song, esp for the way he used TM's rapping.

I think Tony M rapping style was well fit into the early 90s. I liked his rap in the 0(+> album.

I like what some would call pure hip hop without the pop music, but I can appreciate what Tony M did with P on the songs mentioned above. You have to remember, Prince takes all kinds of music and then puts his own stamp on it. Therefore, what Tony M was doing didn't have to necessarily be compared to other hip hop but it was just right for Prince's sound. Check Live 4 Love live and Willing and Able.
