Hello Everyone,
It's been a long time... smile
I received a surprise ring from the Dr. this afternoon, who got a buzz from someone else regarding the below and decided to log in to see what the hubbaloo was about.

First and foremost...
We're all entitled to our opinions!
If you don't love every move I make, I can dig it... Shoot, I don't always love everything I do- about 1/2 of it winds up on the cutting room floor! I assure you- however- this is NOT one of those tracks.

Secondly...
It's not supposed to sound ANYTHING like Prince! Only P can kick out righteous P-like jams. And it's not supposed to sound like anything on radio right now either. If you knew anything about The KLF or POP INC, you'd get it. But we haven't crossed paths yet...

Pleased to meet you, Eagle Bear.
*curtsey*

Cheers GirlBrother... wink
*shakes hand*

Thirdly...
Matt didn't produce the instrumental or lead vox for LOOKING 4 THE KLF.
That was written by Ricardo Autobahn (aka John Matthews, aka The Attery Squash), who's work you can hear as the b-side to DEVO's new single: http://www.clubdevo.com/m...2inch.html
To clarify: Matt did post production- ie coaching & recording backings and mixing backing vocals. Now if Ricardo made sucky tracks, I'm pretty sure DEVO wouldn't touch him. I also wouldn't have let him produce the majority of my last album (Lolly Pop), nor would Matt nor Monte Moir probably care to be involved in any of the aforementioned.

Fourth! The POP INC Myspace only has a rough/preview clip of a portion of the track (second verse and chorus only), which was announced only to our friends/Myspace groups and select blogs this week. Also, KLF Communications are supporting the single and we're currently in talks with Simon Jones (who played Arthur Dent on The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy on the BBC version) regarding a voice-over for the b-side.

Again, if it were "stinky", I don't think all of the above would be circulating around it. Yes- sound quality is sh*t, but it's a preview clip. If you want high quality stereo/surround sound, that's where BUYING comes in (single's out in January). As for all other criticisms, as Prince himself would say... "And what is it again that you do???" IE- if you make music, bring us an alternative track. If we like it, we'll use it as an alternate version!

your old friend,
xxx

Hey- long time no see IATO... smile

Just to be clear, I'm not downing anybody for having opinions. However! People could say things a bit more politely/productively (let's not forget manners just 'coz we're on-line) around here. Saying why you feel the way you do might work better and would probably be FAR more productive for all parties.

Pssst! You- yes YOU- reading this! You're part of this process, of the creativity. Just because you're on the opposite side of the stage/post doesn't mean we're separated. We all contribute and you're certainly entitled to your take on things. Your opinion is just as important as anyone else's. Every yin needs a yang. This is the point of POP INC. We do not subscribe to the major label-created separation of artist from crowd, you from me, of us from we. We're all just people... a bunch of people from all over the world bringing our ideas to one outlet out of love. And that's why I/we love(d) the KLF. They operated on the fringes of the business, created their own movement, made fun of the industry and wound up having natural hits out of it. And the minute awards programs came calling, they defected from the business and burned their record royalties (a million quid British sterling) on camera for the BBC and the entire world to see.

Everybody should read their book HOW TO HAVE A #1 THE EASY WAY. Even if you don't make music, you'll laugh your head off, guaranteed! And here's a KLF refresher in case anyone's lost: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_KLF
There's more links on the POP INC page in our blogs as well.

'Nuff said... And if anyone has constructive criticism or wants to submit/contribute anything, bring it direct:

Thanks for the love/opposition.
Both are awesome balancers.

The Doc is always up to different tricks + that's why I like him versus some of these other old schoolers. And I loved KLF and should admit I'd like to see them make another record (or two or three) too.

HELL YES, WE'D LOVE TO SEE THE KLF MAKE ANOTHER RECORD TOO!!!!!
A small bit of news: we finished the session with Simon Jones this past weekend and he'll be appearing on both the A and B-sides! Also, Ricardo's flying in from Britian to shoot the video in the third weekend/fourth week of January. If anyone's in the MPLS area and would like to sign up as extras or tech crew/support, leave a message on Myspace:

Last but not least... HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
