Giving credit where Credit is due: Dez Dickerson was the best guitarist that Prince ever had

The Guitar solo for the song "Little Red Corvette" is listed as one of the greatest guitar solos of all time. Dez did all the guitar solos for this song. It is listed on the liner notes inside of the 1999 vinyl album.

co-sign. Miko was always my fav backing guitarist.

Plus, that solo on "Little Red Corvette" was comped from a few takes, even though it sounds seamless.

Anyway... Dez was much better than just that solo. He was great live, but Miko was easily the best rhythm guitarist, in my ears, because of his feel with the Funk.

I used the guitar solo for Little Red Corvette as an example because a lot of Prince always underestimate Dez. anyways, I stand by my word. Dez was the best guitarist that Prince ever had.

Whatever....Wendy could not play a guitar solo to save her life....in all honesty, she was just a good rhythm player. a lot of Prince fans need to stop being so bias towards Wendy just because she appearred in the movie and soundtrack
for "Purple Rain". She was not a good soloist.

Look who is biased rolleyes

FYI: She didnt just appear in the movie, she also saved Prince's ass on the 1999 tour when your "Dezzy boy" quit and never showed for rehearsal/ went to start his own band while the tour was going on. Prince was the one who taught her that solo. She also sat in on many rehearsals during the tour.Maybe you should read up a bit before firing off at the mouth.rolleyes

It's an OK solo, nothing particularly good about it.

You don't know what you are talking about. Dez quit The Revolution after the 1999 Tour had ended. You have your facts all wrong and You should read up before firing off at the mouth.

Oh really? That is interesting because Wendy received nothing but praise for her funkiness especially from artists like not only Prince but also Erykah Badu, Pharrell, Questlove, and others. Okay so she isnt the best soloist in guitar (but she improved with that over the years) and she said herself that she somewhat feel uncomfortable doing solos she but seriously anyone who thinks Wendy is lack of funk on the guitar really doesn't know much about
what she is capable of.

And also Dez is a good soloist guitarist and all but he isn't Prince's best guitartist. IMO.

My personal favorite is Miko, 2nd is Mike Scott.

I give dez credit for being influential in Prince's early sound.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I'm going to give it to Mike Scott. He knows how to step up and blaze and he knows when to lay back and groove.

But Dez definetly had the coolest look out of all of P's guitar players.

YOU AINT NEVA LIED!!! Dez kicked Wendy's ass every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I won't say he's the best guitarist Prince had but by far his best rock guitarist sidekick. He complimented Prince very well, musically and stylistically. They looked great on stage together. Wendy was always overrated...especially in PRain!!! hmph!

U must notta checked out the new cd! Wendy rocks some solos.
Never the less, I think Levi was the best all around guitarist for versatility.
But they EACH had their own strength that added to the live sound. Too bad that could not have happened as often on the albums themselves.
