maybe she is just used to the spotlight?

I actually think it was a fairly smart thing to do. She had to leave her cell phone, purse, etc. behind, didn't know when she'd be near a computer, etc. and her family/friends knew she was staying at a hotel that was the target of a terrorist attack. By having her name broadcast all over CNN everyone who knows her and sees CNN automatically knows she is safe and doesn't have to worry (as much) about whether she and her colleagues are okay.

shrug

Agreed. CNN essentially has about 12 seperate broadcasts happening simultaneously on breaking news around the world 24/7. Given the scope of where Mumbai registers on the political map currently I think it was VERY quick thinking on her part to bring immediate attention to the situation in the US media, not only for HER sake, but for others, and so that we could be more cognizant that we have western citizens trying to make their way through an unforseen danger zone. They've been praying about the situation in India at the English language church in my German city for a few months. But in all sincerity as an American, I had ZERO idea that this thing was happening had it not been for info and clips being smuggled out of the country by missionaries who are running for their lives and passing info on to Indian expats in the EU waiting to hear news from loved ones. Things are a bit of a hot mess over there right now. But it's not exactly been a topic widely refelcted on US news. She did a very smart thing. What's happening over there is bigger than her limited celebrity or her marginally sucessful charity. We live in an interdependent global society now on a grand scale, and and we need to be cognizant of conflicts and how they affect us all. Again, kudos to her for her quick thinking. Godspeed for her safe return.

It was IN POOR TASTE (SICK) to talk about her charity ON CNN and the reason for her visit to India when people are dying left, right and center. Also if she was so charitable, why would she be suing Prince. LOL.. she makes NO sense.

I got this from Dr Funkenberry's website: www.docfb.com

We got word of this about 6 hours ago but until we knew she was safe, I could not post it.

Manuella Testolini witnessed a terrorist attack in india earlier today and thanks to the people she was with, she was able to escape harm. She contacted friends n family thru email and later was able to call cnn from her cell.

Right now, she is safe but not sound. She and her friends are asking for your prayers right now.

We will have exclusive updates on this horrible situation when we know she is 100 percent out of harms way.

We appreciate the contact that has been made to docFB and will get the word out.-Dr.FB

My prayers are with her at this time. pray

Sorry, but it's more than a little pathetic that he has to clarify that "we are praying for everyone involved in this, not just her."

-----
No, you are pathetic because you read into everything and find something negative.
Because someone is praying for a specific person does not mean that they are wishing the worst for everyone else.

Please get help for your problems.

Er HELLO!!!!!

Am I the only one who thought the title of this thread was a joke??

"Dozens murdered but Prince's ex wife is safe"????

Reminds me of an old Jasper Carrot ( British comic) sketch on the Sun newspaper " Nuclear attack hits Britain "Murdoch ( as in Rupert) safe".

Tasteful.

Thoughts to anyone involved in this horror.

As the death toll rises the title of this thread becomes even more vulgar.

If you would bother to look around a bit you would find that there are a few threads in P&R, (the appropriate forum), regarding the topic.

This happens to be the Associated Artists and People forum. Call me crazy but that's probably the reason Mani is the focus here.

Didn't they specifically ask why she was in Mumbai? How is it in poor taste to answer a direct question?

To say that she is suing Prince is a lie...isn't it poor taste to spread lies about people?

She was asked if she was American, she could have answered yes or no... and not plug her charity or the reason for her visit in India. She obviously answered to make a name for herself or to bring herself into the positive.

She is suing or was suing Prince for money after she filed for divorce from him. I have very good sources for this info.

Good source or not, it is the woman's private dealings with her (ex)husband in a relationship we know nonthing about... and is COMPLETELY irrelevant to this topic.Although she is an "associate person" being the victimof bombing has little if anything to do with Prince at all, so it seems a little kool-aidish to be making commentary on their personal lives at a moment given the bigger subject at hand. My two cents, take it or leave it twocents

That being said, I have always found that as an American, when we check with our emabassies or consulates before we make travel to destinations that move back and forth as potential political hotbeds, we are told to generally describe our professional capacity when asked, whoever asks. It's not a yes or no answer. When asked you answer because there is a need to establish WHY you are present in your current travel destination. That's true for EVERYONE that leaves US shores. To admonish her for her answer is silly and judgemental, no matter how much anybody wants to take sides in their divorce.

The journalist specifically asked her why she was there and she answered - she didn't give the name of her organization. Your just saying anything to beat her down. I am glad she is OK and for those fortunate enough to make it out with their lives. I am very sad about what happened. Our Earth is a sad sad place, we better get it together as human beings!! The Mumbai coverage is dominating the international news coverage in my neck of the woods. It's a HOT MESS over there eek . That girl is truly lucky she got out ALIVE. I'm on my way to the English language international church I attend, I'm sure there will be a lot of chatter on this as we have a large Indian contingent, some of whom do missionary work in India for the poor. This is a hotbed that's been brewing a minute, and sadly many who do charitable works for the disinfranchised are being targeted neutral

We have people in our yoga group who go there every year. I think the hot mess is being made worse instead of better by all this pontificating and punditry on TV. It's pretty clear to me that none of 'em really know what the hell happened.
