New topic PrintableManuela In Mumbai Attack Update: No Real Update
Posted in News on November 27th, 2008 by drfunkenberry The craziness is not over, and can it really be after what happened? She is still at an undisclosed location with other people who were at the Taj Hotel when the attack happened. For safety issues, I cannot tell you everything I know, until a later date. But for right now, the situation is the same, where she is safe but not sound. There are still terrorists and hostage situations going on with gunfire and explosions, so it is not an ideal situation. The terrorists were speaking in Punjabi and are presumably from Pakistan. Leaders in India and Pakistan are trying to let it be known that this is a situation that is not just India’s problem or just Pakistan’s problem, but both of their problems and they need to come together to handle it. When I have further information I can disclose, I will post it. Just remember, we are praying for everyone involved in this, not just her. Until then. -Dr.FB

thinking of victims x hope westeners can keep safe http://edition.cnn.com/20...index.html Carnage in India; hotels under siege Gunmen have targeted nine locations in south Mumbai, including two luxury hotels. A state spokesman put the death toll at 78. Gunmen are holding hostages at the Taj Mahal and Oberoi hotels, police said. One witness told reporters gunmen had tried to find people with U.S. or British passports. lottielooloo, thats really nice of you to say. But why do you hope only the westeners can keep safe? Are they more human because they have lighter skin? Just wondering. I think she said that because westerners were targeted. Also, I am a westerner... I am also black. How long did you work on this? You know what : I think you could do better. Try education, it might help. Yea i know what you mean, but unfortunately many ignorant people see a genarally peaceful country like this (who are a bit 'dark' and 'foreign') that suddenly have a few months of bomb attacks and then a major rampage like this and they sit back in front of their 36" religion (otherwise known as a tv) and think, "those crazy islamic radicals need to be eliminated" without any real understanding of who's really behind it and the overall picture of what's really going down... Before any honest information comes in it's already being blamed on an as yet unheard of faction of the legendary Mujahideen, AKA Al-Qaeda (re: CIAda) Gosh, shock me if this fairy tale will be somehow linked back to (and pointed at) Pakistan (a year ago a friend of the States, but recently looked upon as disposable)... Brzezinski (Obamas puppet-master) has wanted wars with Russia and China for decades, and the best way to start it is with Pakistan. Obama (as he was directed) threatened attack on Pakistan throughout the election campaign... Wow, shock me that Pakistan is already being set up as the next nasty terrorist loving country.... Look towards MI5/CIA - as usual, here is where you will find the creation of terrorism... Disgusting!! ps, Prince rocks (keeping it on topic) . [Edited 11/27/08 5:51am] Is it January 20, 2009 yet? how can Obama "puppet" anyone? He hasn't even taken the Oath yet. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Ok, I have never been one of Manuela's haters (she has many on this board), but I do find it suspect that it is being mentioned that she is Prince's ex-wife. Did she mention that to CNN? Shouldn't she be referred to as the girlfriend of R&B singer Eric Benet? i'm still trying to figure out why she called CNN? It just seems a weird thing to do when you're in the midst of something like that. as far as the eric benet reference, i guess she's more known as Prince's ex more than Eric Benet's girlfriend. you know, that is really true maybe she is just used to the spotlight?

I actually think it was a fairly smart thing to do. She had to leave her cell phone, purse, etc. behind, didn't know when she'd be near a computer, etc. and her family/friends knew she was staying at a hotel that was the target of a terrorist attack. By having her name broadcast all over CNN everyone who knows her and sees CNN automatically knows she is safe and doesn't have to worry (as much) about whether she and her colleagues are okay.

Very possible. Or she has friends there on CNN who know she's there and managed to contact her, who knows. Whatever you think of Manuela it's really tacky to throw these accusations at her. I hardly think she's so nuts that she thinks about PR while being in such a dangerous situation.

cnn has this thing called ireporter where different people log in or call in with various news topics, event etc. I believe that she was using someone from cnn's blackberry because she said she left her purse and phone in the hotel. obviously with her background she is used to giving articulate accounts of things, maybe she was just the one the group picked to be the spokesperson. I must say although I am no fan of hers, she really came across well in the interview. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

Wow. I just saw a comment by a 'Manuela Testolini' in the Guardian and came here to see if it was actually her.
Here is her eyewitness statement from The Guardian: We ran through the kitchen and surprised the staff, and everyone ran down to a ballroom in the hotel where everyone sat in the dark for almost two hours. We could hear gunfire, and several grenades going off. They shifted us eventually -10 at a time - from the hotel to a back fire escape and out into the street. We thought we were ok because we were away from the hotel, but again we heard gunfire and grenades.

Maybe someone at CNN (perhaps a Prince fan) knows who she is and put the fact that she was married to Prince out there as a frame of reference for the viewers. Like I probably would have done if I worked at CNN.
I listened to the interview and I don't recall her saying Prince's name at all so I don't know what the hell everybody is accusing her of. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

As of yesterday, it appears that Mani is still stuck in India without a passport and without much help from the Canadian consulate. I have a real bad taste in my mouth from some of the ignorant posts I have been reading here and at HQ. May this never happen to you. this makes me so upset! they do not represent india well at all. i am half nigerian and half punjabi but i still feel as strongly about india. india and pakistan have been at it 4ever. if me and my desi and paki friends can get over it and hang, then why can't the adults? it is really sad when people my age have to be the voice of reason. i just hope americans or any others see us in a bad light now

Am I the only one who thought the title of this thread was a joke?? "Dozens murdered but Prince's ex wife is safe"???? Reminds me of an old Jasper Carrot ( British comic) sketch on the Sun newspaper " Nuclear attack hits Britain "Murdoch ( as in Rupert) safe". Tasteful. Thoughts to anyone involved in this horror. As the death toll rises the title of this thread becomes even more vulgar.

We got word of this about 6 hours ago but until we knew she was safe, I could not post it. Manuella Testolini witnessed a terrorist attack in india earlier today and thanks to the people she was with, she was able to escape harm. She contacted friends n family thru email and later was able to call cnn from her cell. Right now, she is safe but not sound. She and her friends are asking for your prayers right now. We will have exclusive updates on this horrible situation when we know she is 100 percent out of harms way. We appreciate the contact that has been made to docFB and will get the word out.-Dr.FB My prayers are with her at this time. Sorry, but it's more than a little pathetic that he has to clarify that "we are praying for everyone involved in this, not just her."
