wow, I still think it was a dream, but if Susannah, St. Paul or Eric are looking in I just want say thankyou for setting up the live stream last night. The 2 new trax were incredible, especially the 2nd mid paced funk track. As for hearing Eric again, what can be said except that regardless of how amazing Maceo is, Eric IS the horn sound of classic Prince and is sorely missed. For the record, whoever the dickweed was at the end that kept posting mindless and offensive posts [basically saying that wihtout P they have nothing] you made me embarrased to be P fan and you totally lack any class. Yeah! I couldn't believe I was chatting with them. I realize though that Susanah is very demanding. I c why her and Prince didn't last. She has her own mind. But she was very sweet and answered all the questions she could. But St. Paul was more quiet and aloof...Eric didn't say anything. But he was mostly playing his sax in the boot. It made u realize how much apart of Prince music he was in the late eighties

The snippets sound indeed very promising.

I guess I wasn't so enthusiastic about a new release by Prince or anyone connected with the man in a looong time.

Hope an album will actually being released next year, since they work at least for a year on new material, right? If The Time is coming up with a new album too, it could be an exciting 2009!

I was cautiously enthusiastic when plans for a reunion album by The Family were announced. I mean I love the first record with a passion, but without Prince's input I wasn't sure what St. Paul, Susannah and the crew would come up with. The question, of course, was whether their self produced, arranged, composed and performed material would make sense in context with the wonderful debut on which Prince handled all those duties.

Well, how thrilled was I to click on the link above and hear the two new songs in progress! If these tracks are an accurate indication of the full project, The Family as I knew and loved them are alive and well in 2008.

Can't wait to get my mitts on this one now!!!

I do want to respond to the comment of me being aloof -
I am probably as far from that as can be. I honestly didn't want to neglect Eric when he was overdubbing, so Sus was handling the responses on the live feed.

Just to let you know, we were in the studio in Las Vegas again on Mon and Tues this week - and Eric goes in with me tomorrow at noon to put horns on yet another COOL Family track.

Susannah and I also started on a ballad that I think is incredible.

We are going to try to get together once more before the holidays, and then I go on a much needed vacation with my wife and kids (I have been touring since May with Kenny Loggins)

Jan and Feb are all about The Family. I am excited to say this is our #1 priority. The album has to be killin, otherwise you guys will be disappointed - so hang in there!!!!

Keep checkin in - who knows, maybe I will be streaming tomorrow too!

I'm watching the live-stream from Germany right now (Nov. 21st, 08.00 p.m. CET).
From a fan perspective, this is the coolest thing ever. I even showed my wife the studio session. She doesn't know much about The Family, so I explained everything. She still wouldn't understand why I'm so excited though

Wow...that was so cool to see and hear. Rock on Family...can't wait to hear the finished product. BTW, this should be on the front page of the Org...I think seeing The Family in the studio recording new material is pretty big news and more people should be seeing this.

He's added a few since the original stream, so you'll have to search for the sessions we were talking about. They took a minute to load on my PC and at first, didn't look like they were doing anything at all, but have patience and wait for them to start...
