I agree, I saw her in some ancient Rome flick last year, which flopped btw- and I want my 9 dolla and med popcorn back ,and she did not look any prettier than a chick you'd see on today's reality TV. Perhaps she's hot by Indian standards. I know she's like their #1 starlet, but to me she's just nice looking not drop dead gorgeous as Vanity was in her younger days or like Mayte is now. To me Vanity looks good at her age for all she's endured and doesn't need as much make up and retouching like Aish who is younger.
Wasn't Vin Deisel trying to hit that at one time? eek

I dont like to comment on who looks better than who threads, but I will say that Aishwarya pic if retouched and Vanity's photo is not so those pics arent a fair comparison, plus the hair and makeup from the 80s if very different from the hair and makeup today.

Yeah, a better picture of Vanity would have helped alot. She looks crazy on that picture.

As for Aishwarya, I'm surprized tha Prince hasn't tapped that by now. She's beautiful. I think it's a tie, (not judging from that horrid Vanity Pic. LOL)

I think that at her height of beauty, Vanity was prettier and oozed more sensuality. Aishwarya is a pretty woman and is a more talented actress (with all the lip-syncing that goes on in Bollywood films, the jury is out on her voice in my opinion) but change her green eyes to brown and she doesn't stand out as much and she's not devastatingly more beautiful than some of the other Indian starlets. Plus, she used to be skinny as hell. Aishwarya is a face girl. Someone like Bipasha Basu or Mallika Sherawat is more of the total package. Since we are talking faces, while I think Aish is beautiful, I think Vanity was a "little mo' pretty" if ya ask me. They are from two different eras, though.

If you take the whole package into consideration Aish is much prettier.

She is a great actress, dancer and model. She is also a nice person in real life with a good moral character. She's not a crack whore.

Apples to oranges.

There's lots of stories about Aishwarya being a not so nice person in real life.
I have my own suspicions about her, especially after she's turned down movie offers from Will Smith several times including the role for the female lead in Hancock but has played in little American movies. Honestly, "The Last Legion" over "Hancock"? hmm hrmph
Some would say that being a coke head isn't worse than being a bigot. At least one has very little control over themselves. I'm not going to go into a long convo about black/Indian relations and society stereotypes but people who know, know.
She's a beautiful woman and a decent actress but lets not go down the moral judgment road. I still think Vanity in her heyday was slightly more beautiful.

Rubbish she is not a bigot...

She turns down roles that are sexually overt... she comes from a very conservative Indian family. Remember she is from India and India is a very conservative society. If the scenes are too sexual or nude... she will turn it down without question. I happen to know her personally.

Explains your earlier comment of referencing to Aish as not being a "crackwhore" as if Denise is still snorting and shooting up.

Uh, did you see Hancock? Tell me what was "sexually overt" about that role? We didn't see Charlize naked or boning Will in that movie.
I know a bit about South Asian/Indian culture and I also know the general consensus about how Indians feel about blacks. Please don't try to pretend. There is a mountain of evidence on this subject.
If she had done a movie playing the love interest of Will Smith, she would probably be shunned by Bollywood and since she is one of their biggest stars, it would wreck her career and you know it.

You don't know a damn thing about me... I am not pretending. I used to live with a black family in Toronto when I was in College and that family is very close to me. So your generalizations are wack as someone on crack.

I wasn't referring to you specifically but "my generalization" is based on truth. Its not like I pulled it out of my ass and if you are Indian you know this already. Even Ghandi said that he didn't want the Indians being treated like the blacks, so don't go there.
I don't know Aishwarya's personal philosophies, beliefs or anything and I don't claim to but as I said I know a bit about Indian culture and I know that doing a movie opposite Will Smith would definitely cause some controversy. Its not like Hancock had any sex scenes in it so you can't flip that into "its Will's fault" when he wasn't throwing sexually explicit scripts her way.

First of all Aish is a former Miss Universe, she is a very busy person and extremely famous... she is known worldwide not just in America and she is the only female actress to have millions of fans that adore her worldwide. The websites devoted to her number in the thousands. When she was on Oprah she said so. If she was prejudiced she would not have gone on Oprah. Anyway if you see her interview on Oprah you can understand a bit about her. She is a smart girl with quick answers that even stumped poor Oprah.

She also gets numerous offers for projects and is at a point in her career where she can pick and choose what she wants to do. Money is not everything.
So whatever her reasons for turning down roles, I don't know exactly why or which. I do know however she does turn down overtly sexual roles. Anything with nudity or sexual content in the language.

Maybe she secretly hates Will Smith, who knows?

I don't think you have an understanding of India or the culture there. I personally have found from talking African Americans that they are also prejudiced towards other races, hell they even have stereotypes of prejudices within their own black communities and it is all as superficial as skin color. You seem to be a perfect example of that. We live in 2008 not in 1900s the prime of Gandhi's years. Do you even know what the world was about then?

I personally think they are both beautiful and talented...in very different ways. Aishwarya is a bollywood star basically the Angelina Jolie of India. She is an incredible dancer I have seen one her movie's where she was dancing like a maniac...breathtaking.

Vanity is her own light of the 80's..you cannot compare her to anyone. She is unique by herself, beautiful, sexy, torn...and mended. For her age, yes she is gorgeous and also older than Aishwarya.

There is no comparison although the pictures are quite clever.

Mayte actually did something for Bollywood...maybe you guys should compare her to Aishwarya instead. I'll find the clips and post it.

Aishwarya should stick to Bollywood, all of her movies in Hollywood flopped and I heard she wont do kissing scenes.

cool
