Does anyone like Tamar's vocals on the songs in 3121? I think she can sing pretty well but theres something about her voice I don't like. I know Beautiful Loved and Blessed seems like a nice song but I just can't seem to get into it. It's something about the vocals. What do you all think?

They appear on the songs Incense & Candles, Love, Beautiful Loved & Blessed and Get on the Boat (I might be missing one )

But they add to the songs rather than take away from them.

I think the only time I didn't like Tamar at all was when I saw the GMA performance in 2006 when she got to sing a song Prince wrote for her when all I wanted to hear was his music

Other than Diamond & Pearl, he had a female singer named Elisa doing some of the vocals on the album. You can hear her throughout "Daddy Pop" and she duets with him in the song "Walk, don't walk"

Or you might mean Rosie Gaines, who dueted with him in the track "Diamonds & Pearls"... they fit together perfectly, like two pieces of a puzzle. She also did vocals on Daddy Pop, Push, Willing & Able and Gett off.

having her voice flow through the songs on backingvox gives the album

I agree with PleasurePrinciple. I really liked Tamar's vocals on 3121. I felt that her vocals complemented Prince's very well and her vocals were great contribution on 3121. (Incense and Candles, and Love, for example). I really don't understand why Tamar is criticized by so many members of this forum, but I think she has a great voice and it just the matter of her having the right material to showcase her talent. Rosie G. was another singer who vocals worked really well with Prince's, esp on D&P.

I like Shelby and think that she is a awesome singer, but I find her vocals to be a bit rough at times and just don't "flow" very well with Prince's. She is better on her own (solo) vs providing background vocals, as she is doing now with Prince.

I think she is pretty .
She wuz bangin' at Good Morning America with Prince and The Twinz.

I think Tamar voice sounds nice on 3121 and I do love the song Beautiful Loved & Blessed! You gotta admit it, Tamar can sing and yall know she sounds better than the twinz.

I'd just like to point out that there's also an alternative version of 'Fury' that isn't on the album that has vocals from Tamar. This version was used for the music video.
