Do you think vanity would have been better in Purple Rain than Apples?

Absolutely!!! Though I think she was having a tough time then.... I would think so anyway.....Though she is not as valumptous as Apples and that makes for better ratings.....I think Vanity has more presence and acting ability personally.

Vanity would have been better. Since they were in a relationship, fans would have gotten a small inside glimpse of what they were like as a couple. I think she would have added some sass and the script would have had to be written to make her less of a groupie figure and more of a woman trying to make it in the biz by her own merits. The scenes with Morris would have been off the hook cuz you would have had to add some more comeback lines for Vanity. I mean she could have totally dogged him in the scene where they are dining and he's bragging bout his brass waterbed LMAO. When I watch PRain, I watch for everything but apples.

With Vanity it would have had more sexual undertones. Vanity seemed like she was the nastier of the 2 (btwn Prince and vanity) and I think the movie would have brought that out that Vanity was sort of 'initiating" the kid.

Apples character seemed to be 1) older than Prince and 2) sort of the dumb bimbo type since whe was allowing these fools (Morris, the Kid) run her around like a puppet.

I think Vanity would have been the one PLAYING THEM and the movie could have explored Prince winning Vanity over with his emotional side.

i think I would have liked that version better, more sexual tension between Vanity, and Prince and more competition btwn Prince and Morris.

Apples was pitiful in PR. Couldn't act at all and had no presence. Vanity would have been an upgrade in that role.

I remember people who weren't into Prince that saw Purple Rain thought the only redeeming actor was Morris and Apollonia. Take that for what it's worth. I have no idea, and neither does anyone outside of the people who saw Vanity act. She could have been worse than Ingrid in GB!

I like Vanity, but I think she would have given the movie a "darker" edge so to speak. I think Apples had kind of a sort of sweet and innocent quality that was endearing.
