Tony Lemans--Who is He? Hi Orgers!
I'm hoping you can help me. Very recently, I bought a lot of 10 Prince/associated artists LPs from eBay. Most of them were Prince with a Shelia E and a Jesse Johnson tossed in. But there was one I didn't recognize. It was for a guy named Tony LeMans. I've never heard of this guy and I'm wondering, is it just a random record, or did this man actually have any real connection to Prince. Thanks! I love a Man who:

From what I remember he was one of the artists on the Pailey Park label, along with random acts like Good Question and TC Ellis. And if I remember correctly Tony died awhile ago. Never heard the record though... Tony Lemans was an artist signed to Paisley Park Records in the late 80s.His self-titled debut album was released in the fall of 1989.The album featured no Prince involvement but Bonnie Boyer (from Prince's band) can be heard on background vocals.A single "Higher Than High" was released, while another song, the slow jam "Forever More" received some airplay on R&B stations.I think that "Cookie Crumbles" was also released as a single.I'm pretty sure I saw the single in stores.
As with most Paisley Park releases from this period, the album went nowhere, suffering from a lack of promotion.I guess if I had to describe the album,I'd say it was lite funk/pop.In 1992,Tony was preparing a second album. This time around,Prince contributed a song called "Fuschia Light".Sadly,Tony died in a motorcycle accident. The album was never finished.

Didn´t he also work with Lenny Kravitz when Lenny´s stage name was Romeo Blue? I think they recorded together. Was Tony also a bandmember of Mazarati ? Romeo Blue was a rock band...Lenny was - I think- not the lead. Tony was. Prince basically said no one wanted to hear rock and roll from some black dudes. So Lenny split. We see who was right..lol. Also - the final album was produced by one of the guys from Scritti Politti (an 80s band). Actually I think several albums worth of material was recorded that Prince rejected. Tony was really talented. Just a shame some real artists assumed Prince/Paisley Park association would do anything for their careers.
