They mention the baby dying a year after they were married and how he elects not to discuss. In the interview he looked so distant. For someone he claimed to be his soulmate he sure kicked her to the curb

I think Prince has to just not talk about it. And honestly do we really want to see him break down on Barbara Walters talking about his deceased infant son, so that all the Prince haters can look in glee??? No, just keep it private, man.

I thought it was wrong to flat out be untruthful (okay, "lie") right after the baby had die.... I just have a problem with people volunteering a lie. If you don't want to tell the truth... just say no comment, or let the interviewer know in advance that this topic is off limiits.

But I hear that Prince really really believed that if he would embrace an idea or refuse to acknowledge the tragedy, that somehow, the universe or karma or something would make everything alright again.

yup, I have to believe that with the changes that Prince has made, if he was faced with the same scenario today, he would have handled his business a litle differently, heck for that matter Mayte would have also. They were just too young (chronilogically for Mayte, and emotionally for Prince).

I have wrote to Mayte on one of her forums, and asked a question, she was totally cool and very nice and friendly. You always think that the pretty girls are stuck on themselves (somehow I get that vibe from Vanity, and Mani) but Mayte really seem like the girl next door sweet.

Although, if he had released a brief statement, think Dennis Quaid when his twins almost died, maybe the story would have been laid to rest a lot sooner rather than linger on thru tabloid speculation. With regard to that karma/universe stuff, its sad that Prince at that time and maybe still, doesn't realize that what happened with the baby wasn't a result of the universal balance or karma at all, as humans we carry the genes (good or bad) of those who came before us and not everyone is genetically compatible with everyone else. I think he and Mayte possibly were not genetically compatible. I believe it was gonna happen either with the first kid or the last kid.

Some people know how to handle the press more effectively than others.

and as far as genetics... I totally believe that there is some truth to that notion that Mayte and Prince was very unlikely to conceive a healthy baby. Look at the people who are both sickle cell anemia carriers. Their chances of having a healthy baby is much lower than the average couple. Some people take their chances and try again.Some times it works... sometimes it doesn't.

I know a woman who's parents were both s.c. trait carriers, they had 3 daughters... the first 2 both had sickle cell anemia and was severely affected. Their last daughter was totally normal. My thought was "how could you keep trying with the same partner knowing what you know". Maybe that was the case with Mayte and Prince... the doctors told them there was a good chance that the tragedy could happen again.

Also, sadly I have heard rumors that Mani had a early miscarriage... if true and it could be related to a genetic problem (because most of the time these affected babies are not brought to term, nature has a way of terminating pregnancy if there is something genetically wrong... many early miscarriages are due to genetic abnormalities).

If this is true that Mani had a similiar problem... that might explain why Prince is childless.
