Late Breaking News Bulletin: Re-Make of THE LAST DRAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Samuel L. Jackson is taking on another heavy role.

Having most recently played a dirty cop in "Lakeview Terrace," Jackson is set to star as a bad guy again in a remake of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy's 1985 cult classic "The Last Dragon."

Jackson will play Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, a role played in the original by the late Julius Carry, whose spiel included asking ego-driven questions like "Am I the baddest mofo lowdown around this town?" Each time his gang of thugs answered, "Sho'Nuff!"

Columbia Pictures' updated plot will be along the same lines of the original, centering on young martial arts student Leroy Green in his quest through the streets of New York to achieve the highest level of martial arts accomplishment, known as the Last Dragon. Those who achieve the high ranking possess the Glow, making them the greatest fighter alive.

The original, which also starred one-namers Taimak and then-Prince protegee Vanity, was released in March 1985 by TriStar Pictures and received lukewarm reviews. Roger Ebert said it was a "great near-miss."

"Last Dragon" managed to do well at the box office, grossing nearly $26 million. It soon became a cult classic for scenes like Bruce Lee follower Green remaining so loyal to the martial arts star that he eats his popcorn in a movie theater with chopsticks.

"I'm a huge fan of the original and look forward to bringing Sho'Nuff into the 21st century," said Jackson, who returns to theaters soon alongside the late Bernie Mac in "Soul Men."

oh HELL to the NO!

Why the **** are they doing remakes of everything these days? Pathetic. Honestly, I feel like anything made from the '60's, '70's, '80's, '90's should not be remade!!!

This is as stupid as the planned remake of "Footloose" with Zac Efron playing the role of Kevin Bacon lol

Just who are they going to find that would make a better pair than Vanity and Taimak? They were quite an attractive and charismatic duo. Currently, I don't see anyone in Hollywood who can match peak-Vanity in the beauty department.

I won't be seeing this movie!!

Maybe the only good that will come from this is that the entertainment news shows might want to track down the "original stars" of the film, so perhaps we can see another Denise Matthews interview. With her book coming out, I doubt she'll say no to free publicity. Anyway, this was her most family-oriented and wholesome film, so she shouldn't feel too "embarrassed" talking about it lol

they'll probably get someone like Rihanna or Ciara to play the Vanity role rolleyes This time, the music will probably be hip-hop and lame R&B.

I'm gonna pass on this.

Forget that....Who will play sexy Taimak's cute and soft-spoken character? eek

Man, except for Sam Jackson (who is great in every movie he's in), I expect this remake to be terrible. confused

From what I understand Taimak is still fine and in top shape and can still recapture the role.

U know what, U're right. I've seen him recently online, and he still looks great. But I bet the producers are going to try to find a new young guy to play the role for the re-make though. neutral I can't imagine who. Definitely no one I've seen on TV or in movies lately.

I am looking forward to this and I love me some Samuel Jackson.

I think with the right cast this movie would be a box office smash.

Maybe Corbin Bleu could play Leroy. If anybody would fit the Laura Charles role, it would probably be Rhianna. They say Jason Alexander may play Eddie Arkadian. I could actually see Booker T from the WWE or Busta Rhymes playing Sho'nuff before I could see Sam Jack playing him.

Had a chat with Taimak aka Bruce LeeRoy, He has given up on trying to get a feature or some participation on the remake.

I could care less about this bullshyt, why touch a film that was based and cultured on that particular era?

Why couldn't they make some other movie and just copy TLD, lol.
