Sheila's site has a message trying to address the "anti gay" issue. WHile it doesn't necessarily negate what the Revive groups believes, she is saying she accepts all people which is nice.

On a side note, religious groups that use Sodom and Gemorrah as evidence for anti gay sentiment don't know what they're talking about. modern Biblical scholars say S&G's sin was not about gay sex but being unhospitable and turning away guests which was a huge no-no in that society.

09/19/08 - Santa Fe Update

Dear Family, Friends, and Fans...

I am performing with my family for Revive Santa Fe for no other reason than to be a blessing, and to fellowship with the love of Christ. There was a very unfortunate statement made and it was acknowledged and clarified through a press conference yesterday. This event is not an anti gay movement as one man has insisted on labeling. I am asked to pray for and with people everyday. As I have a sincere love for everyone, it doesn't matter if they are gay, straight, black, white, Christian or Atheist. Everyone needs love and that's what I'm about. I don't judge anyone, that’s for God to do. It is my prayer that everyone will come to know God and serve Him in truth and love. My family's and my mission is to be a blessing where ever we go, in what ever we do, and to whom ever we perform with and in front of.

The statement was what it was - backpedaling on the language now doesn't change what this group stands for.
And the act of disguising condemnation in a thin veil of prayer, masquerading as "love," is deplorable.

People grow up and change. I don't hear or see Sheile E performing "Erotic City" anymore. In addtion, she may not be aware of what the Christian group promoting the concert has on their website and if you do not agree with "homosexuality" you are well within your right to say so.

However, you are not within your right to prevent people from their pursit of earning a living, having a place to live or resticting their gathering in public places.

I am begining to think you guys don't really know what discrimination.

I'm disappointed with Sheila for supporting a hate-filled group that spreads an evil message. There's nothing wrong with saying so. No one's trying to stifle her from making a living. But you're kidding yourself if you don't think the living she's become accustomed to didn't come from a lot of gay and lesbian fans.

I don't understand this proliferation of hardcore religion among Prince and his former associates. What's driving so many of them to it? Especially considering they were, so many of them, free spirits.

Sheila E. is playing a concert in Santa Fe tomorrow night with her family as part of a 7 day Christian celebration at our brand new convention center.

The mayor scheduled to speak and guitarist Ramon Bermudez was scheduled to play but they have pulled out after reading on the Christian group, Revive's website that the troubles in this world are largely the result of the "homosexual explosion."

I knew she was heavily religious but I didn't know she was into bigotry.
