They are both Capricorns so they probably share some traits.

Sorry, but no. Not by a longshot. Vanity was great and all--she was stunningly gorgeous, in fact--but she was no Ava Gardner.

Just that I don't think Vanity is really a black version of Ava Gardner. I don't think Ava Gardner was extremely talented or beautiful, but she was certainly a better actress and even singer than Vanity, so I wasn't sure where you were going with the comparison.

BOTH EXOTIC TYPES WHO HAD CONTROLLING BOYFRIENDS TRYING TO MAKE THEM STARS. REMEBER THE CRAZY FILM DIRECTOR IN GODFATHER WHO WOUND UP WITH THE DEAD HORSE IN HIS BED? WHEN HE'S COMPLAINING ABOUT LOSING HIS STARLET...THAT'S A REFERENCE TO AVA GARDNER, WHO LEFT HER MUCH OLDER FILM PRODUCER BOYFRIEND FOR FRANK SINATRA! VANITY THOUGHT AVA GARDNER WAS BEAUTIFUL, SO MAYBE SHE TRIED A LITTLE TO MODEL AFTER HER. MAYBE! PRINCE IS THE FRANK SINATRA OF POP FUNK. GIRLFRIEND STEALING AND ALL! razz biggrin

I guess Vanity was going for that Old HollyWood Glamor look.

Her Idol after all was La Diana Ross

wow, Vanity is by far the most beautiful of Prince's girls. In this pic, she is by far the prettiest/ most beautiful woman on the scene (not that she is on the scene now).

I thought Halle was the prettiest. I was wrong. She looks like an artist painting in this pic. No flaws.

i always loved Vanity's bone structure. Very symetrical face. And loved her fashion sense back then. all her clothes looked good on her whereas they may have looked trashy on someone else. LOL
