The best Time interview ever!

Morris: Prince is not the easiest person in the world to work for or with.

John: Is it because he has that Napolean thing going on?

Morris: Yeah, whatever that thing is, that thing is real!

John: Is he pissed because he can't get on the rollercoaster at the amusement parks?

I must say that John, the dude who did the interview - he really sucks big time. He did not ask them *one* question that could possibly be of any interest for a fan of The Time. Instead, he opened the interview asking them about working with Prince and all that Purple Rain blah blah. Same old stories that no one wants to hear: Jam & Lewis got kicked out back in the day, what a surpise! Or: "what do you like better - singing or acting?" etc.. Come on, can't you come up with something better? And oh yeah, for a funny guy he's pretty unfunny. That remark about the amusement park/Prince's body height is just plain stupid. No word on a new album or any other plans for the future neither.

Despite that, I guess the band did great - they seem to be down to earth which I appreciate a lot. I'd really love to see the guys doing some shows in Europe and most of all, give us some new FUNK to dance to!

Jesse asked who the fans would like to see them tour with. I wound like to see them tour with New Edition, Alexander O'neal, and Cherelle. I know it will never happen, but that's what I want.

How embarrassing that the Time had to endure John the interviewer. I can't stand him. How a jerk with no talent get hired by Jay Leno & NBC I have no idea.

i never put much stock in shows like the tonight show when someone i like is being interviewed on there.

you have to remember, the target audience for shows like this is not prince.org or even fans or people who fit into the fan demographic. these shows target to a relatively broad, middle-america, baby boomer audience, most of whom still aren't aware that prince made any albums after purple rain.

so if you watch the time interview with that in mind, it will still suck, but at least you'll kind of understand a little more why it has to suck.

Can anyone explain where this story is coming from? I was under the impression that they are using "The Time" for the Vegas gigs and Morris Day and The Time for the shows that still going on with the stand ins.

Those guys pride themselves in being "The Time". In every interview through the years, Jam and Lewis always rep "The Time". I doubt they would call themselves anything else if they had a choice. My guess is that Prince, or someone else, has yet to actually give them the legal use of the name.

I believe initially they were using "The Time" (Jan2008-April2008), but then it became "Morris Day And The Original Time". Probably because someone didn't follow through with legalities.

On the Michael Baisden Show Morris remarked how they spoke with Prince and they had his blessing.
