In the theater. I was a fan of everyone in it. As with her stage shows of that time, Sheila pretty much just mimics Prince.

I requested Holly Rock when Sheila E played here in Mpls a month or so ago. She seemed a little surprised.

Rock Rock Holly Rock Everybody Wanna Holly Rock I think she hates the song. That's just conjecture on my part, but I heard her make fun of it at one of her concerts a few years ago. She sang it at the Family Jamm, but she totally messed up the words.

I was also hoping to see some nude scenes of them. Dammitt, there weren't any! Oh well, at least there were no nude scenes of The Fat Boys. . . . The greatest moment in Cinematic history is in that Movie. When LL Cool J walks in to audition and say "Box". That shit is the bomb
I really need to get that on DVD

I did too and I had no idea that Sheila was in it until she appeared on the screen . You mean Sheila E wasn't why you went to see the movie? You actually wanted to see it for other reasons? Who am I kidding? My friends and I went to see almost every hip-hop oriented film back then, no matter how bad they were. I drew the line at Body Rock and Rappin' though.

He's a Prince fan too, but I am quite sure he didn't know Sheila was in it either as he would have told me and he never was into hip-hop. So I actually have no idea why he wanted to see it, but I guess at that time he just wanted to spend time with me no matter what movie we were watching . Maybe I should ask him . Gosh I used to think Kurtis Blow was the finest rapper ever!! He was so pretty and that smile and that hair.

I saw part of it in the theatre.
I was making out with my date during most of it. For some odd reason, it shares the same distinction as Schinmdler's List as being a great make-out movie. Though, I couldn't tell you why.

Yeah,it's a sucky movie, isn't it? To me,'Krush Groove' looks like it was hastily thrown together. The filmmakers were trying to cover all the bases but they forgot to come up with a strong storyline.Even Run DMC (the film's stars) dissed this movie a few years later, calling it "soft". By comparison,'Beat Street' is superior in every way.

I drew the line at Body Rock and Rappin' though. What's your opinion of 'Beat Street'? That's my favorite hip-hop/breakdancing film from that era.I also love the soundtrack. 'Breakin' has its moments too,but the sequel 'Electric Boogaloo'? I have it on DVD but I doubt that I will ever watch it again.I do like the theme song "Electric Boogaloo" by Ollie and Jerry That song is the best thing about the film, lol.

I saw it on video, thought the story was lame but Sheila was cool and not a bad actress. The fat boys I never liked, always stuffing their faces! Sheila should do some more acting, something worthy of her talent.

I saw it at the Skyway Theater in MPLS, one block from First Ave. Same Place I saw Grafitti Bridge.

Breakin' and Beat Street are typical of the differences between east coast and west coast at the time. Beat Street was very serious and authentic as far as the breakdancing goes. The Breakin' movies were a lot more fun and tried to stretch the boundaries a little in terms of the dancing. Being from NY, I naturally liked Beat Street more, but I'm not gonna hate on the first Breakin' movie. I had the first Beat Street soundtrack and both Breakin' movies soundtracks and remember being very disappointed with the Breakin' 2 album.
