Why did Margie Cox never blow up?

that is the question for art thou....

Do Dr Mambo's Combo have any solo albums? If so what are some of her best cuts other than being with Tamara and The Seen and that wonderful song "Standing At The Alter" (which shuda had a cool video of her in a wedding gown runnding and crying)...
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

You should go to Bunker's tonight and ask her! She'll be playing with the Combo.razz She really is a great singer and should have blown up, for sure.
The Combo is a cover band so they haven't really put out any albums (I think there is a live one floating around out there though). I think Margie's solo project was shelved - I could be wrong though.

See you at Bunker's! wink

WOW! Things we dont know, i am still however a HUGE Margret Cox fan, i love her full throated vocals....She is talented BY FAR, i wish her nothing but the best, i'm sure being young in the business you get folks talking smack in both ears and you are so overwhelmed it can take a toll. So sad but TRUE. Above all that she still seems to be doing ok and moving on with life.....I'm so proud of her.

Too bad you missed her this week but she plays with the Combo every Sunday and Monday, so you should for sure check them out sometime and chat Margaret up if you get the chance!

Because Prince had her locked in a contract and wouldn't release her, or the music they'd recorded together. She wasted YEARS.

And yes, this was back in the days when Prince was bitching about his WB recording contract.

He did the same thing to Rosie Gaines.

I bought a CD from her a couple months ago. She's a good singer and a nice person to be with.

She plays with the Combo every Sunday and Monday night.

"Standing At The Altar" is an EXCELLENT song! If it had been released as a single with a great video and proper promotion,it might have been a huge hit.

and Jill Jones too nod

With the exception of Sheila E. and The Time,Prince just wasn't very good at nurturing talent and promoting his proteges, which is part of the reason why Paisley Park Records ultimately failed.
