Actress NONA GAYE will never forgive PRINCE for the way he broke her heart when she was a smitten teenager.

The pop superstar was 16 years older than MARVIN GAYE's daughter when he told mutual friends the two were to wed, but he then proposed to his future wife MAYTE - and added to Gaye's pain with a diamond display at a New York concert.

The actress recalls, "I never really knew him, and I never let him really know me. I tried to be this woman I thought he wanted - very passive, letting him lead.

"He told a friend of mine he was going to marry me and take care of me. I knew I wouldn't get anything better than that from him, so I believed it.

"After that we were in New York, and he asked me to come see his show. Mayte, one of his dancers, flashed the engagement ring he'd given her from the stage.

"When I asked him about it afterwards, he was very evasive and defensive. I haven't spoken to him since. It upsets me that we ended things that way, because at one point he was really, really important to me."

Yeah,she has told this story several times Apparently Prince led her on,making her believe that he was gonna marry her and settle down.Instead,he chose to settle down with Mayte.

I think this is how he had several concurrent relationships. By the time we the fans hear the gossip, the cat is out of the bag with the women and things are even MORE obvious. We see the tail end of things when everything is pretty much out in the open, not when things are heavily secret.

and when I say Prince is attractive, I don't mean just physically, I mean spiritually, emotionally, and personality. Mayte has said that Prince had a way of making you feel you were the most important person in the universe, and could totally give undivided attention to a person...

I think this was for men and women, romantically, and professionally. That is why people are attracted to him and then people wonder how his circle could allow themselves to be taken advantageous (Cymone, Susannah, W&L, the ex wives, Sheila, and Jill)... at the time I these people had very positive feelings about Prince, positively glowed... then after the fact, they get a chance to reflect and then realize that things didn't go quite well for them.

I believe that except for a few, most people walk away from the experience with mixed feelings, bitterness, hurt and betrayal but also admiration, and genuine love/affection for him.

Yeah, well he's no longer with Mayte either. Or Mani either for that matter. It's never gonna work out for Prince and any woman. He just needs to face and accept what he really wants and it's something that a woman ain't got. A woman may be able to strap one on but like Nona's father used to sing..."Ain't nothin' like the real thing baby".
