I totally disagree with Janet stealing Vanity's look. Everyone including myself wore BIG ASS HAIR, including the heavy metal bands, Madonna,Paula Abdul, Robin Givens, & just about everyone in Hollywood etc... Beside as far as Vanity's wore drobe was straight lingerie. I don't recall Janet dressing in victoria secret clothing as an act. Honestly, I wouldn't think that Janet would be jealous of Vanity.  Now I would agree that the Mary Jane Girls got there look from Vanity 6 and they also had more hits than Vanity 6.

Janet didn't steal Vanity's look. Almost every Black female artist in the 80's wore that wet and wavy weave. (hell, my momma had a weave light that  )"POOR IS THE MAN WHO'S PLEASURES DEPEND ON THE PERMISSION OF ANOTHER" Madonna
