Anyone remember hearing about this would-be band? They were supposed to be on the Paisley Park label in the mid 80s but nothing ever came of it. I can't recall now who it was but the leader of this band was a fairly high profile artist from another band - Roger Troutman maybe??? Anyone know why they did not happen?

Just directing it. It was to be another battle of the bands thing (P loves that concept) with Mazarati vs The CoCo Boys (because of their light complexion). Word was The CoCo Boys actually was to consist of Lenny Kravitz, Tony LeMans and Micki Free. Lenny and Tony played in a band together called Romeo Blue prior to either of them getting signed to a solo deal.

A long time ago,I did a thread on all the rumored Prince spin-off acts that never materialized.Did you know that,in 1985,Prince was planning another girl group? They were called Neopolitan,described as "Supremes-like",no nasty stuff.Then there was Mercedes,the female version of Mazarati.

As for Coco Boys....I knew about the role they would play in 'The Dawn'.I suppose Prince would have produced an album for them,as well.

I loves me some Prince, but a female version of Mazarati, called Mercedes?!?! Sometimes Prince acts like a teenage bimbo...
