Sheila E's stage presence

Fellow orgers, do you agree?

The Chemistry between Sheila E and Prince when together on stage is in my view extraordinary. I really feel like something almost magical is happening once they are together.
I count myself lucky for the fact that I have witnessed the SOTT and Lovesexy concerts live and witnessed Sheila perform a couple of times when she was in Holland.

No doubt that Prince is the more talented of the two but when it comes to stage presence I think it’s a close tie.
When Sheila performed with Candy Dulfer during North Sea Jazz a few years ago the show was a bit tame...untill miss E entered the stage….you could just feel the buzz!
Her performance with C.O.E.D in Paradiso in Amsterdam was also fabulous….so much energy!!!

Another good example that show's how much charisma this woman posesses is if you watch the Ringo Starr DVD's of his All Starr Tour. Not really into Ringo Starr but Sheila makes it worth watching and she definately lifts the show to another level.

No matter how much I love to see Prince perform and how ecstatic those concerts can be…..for me, the ultimate concert experience is when these two are together!

*le sigh* cloud9

That's cool, never knew that about Sheila E.
They must have great chemistry between them and also an intimate knowledge of each other,
that could be why they perform well together.

I've never been blessed to see Sheila perform live, but based on what I've seen on TV, I agree she is a very much underrated performer. She really does have an impressive sense of showmanship. She and Prince together must be incredible.

You hit the nail on the head.

Until you see Sheila live, you don't understand how talented she really is.

I have a colleague who is younger and didnt grow up in the 80s but she saw Krush Groove and was like "wowww!" I took her to see a E Family show a few months ago in SF and she loved it.

I was like wait til you see her do her own stuff. THere is something about Sheila....beyond her talent as a drummer, beyond her wonderful energy and musicanship.....she really is the consummate bandleader and performer!

I'm a geek for Sheila like most gay guys are into Streisand. It was her performance/presence at the 1985 AMAs that hooked me and eventually turned me on to Prince. I still think that night's performance of "The Glamorous Life" remains one of the best live music TV moments of all-time.

Shelia could go onstage wearing nothing but a paper bag and I'd be into it. Love her.

I think her stage presence improved dramatically after she left Prince's camp. She borrowed a lot of elements from him but also incorporated some of her own things.

I love when she tours with Ringo Starr. It's fun to see the reaction she gets from the audience, most of whom know little about her and are inevitably blown away by her.
