The Time : ICE CREAM CASTLES I know Prince played on The Time's first 2 albums but did he play on his one at all? I think he did not but not sure. And who wrote the great "My Drawers"? the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

Man, I've written at least 3 threads about this song on here. Yeah, that's Prince playing everything on this track. And Prince wrote My Drawers as well. I heard that there is a demo of this song with Prince "guide" vocals on them. With an extra set of verses as well. Don't know how tru that is but that's what I heard. Love the song "Ice Cream Castles". SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

What about The Bird and Jungle Love?
I think If the Kid Can't Make You Come is all Prince too--is that right?

As per Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis on BET circa 1986, those 2 songs are all Jesse Johnson. They talked about how Jimmy went from 4 track to 8 track to 16 track to 32 track etc as he recorded the songs. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

I'm sorry, my last post was referring strictly to "If The Kid Can't Make You Come". Just to paraphrase what was said, Jesse mentioned that what impressed Prince the most about his playing was his ability to plug straight into an amp and get a happening sound without effects, Just fingers on the strings. He mentioned that tune as an example of himself doing that type of playing. If you recall we were on another thread a while back discussing "My Drawers". You hipped me to Prince playing on that track. A lot of folks seem to like that tune. Other than the guitar playing I personally never cared for the song itself. [Edited 6/14/08 11:52am]

There is too much talking on this album and not enough songs. Some of it is just silly and childish. Ice Cream Castles is the best song. Their first album was their best one.

Prince played a lot of the songs on that album. There were extra verses on at least 2 of the songs as I remember it.
I'll have to check my notes to know specifically. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I usto play "my drawers" over and over, love the guitar work, loved it.
I think all the reviews i've read dogged that song when it was first released. ...But then again they dogged "the family" too.

STRICTLY PRINCE & MORRIS DAY, WITH LIMITED INPUT FROM JESSE (JUNGLE LOVE) AND A "LIVE" BAND TRACK (THE BIRD)

AND THAT'S JESSE'S "B.B. KING-LIKE" SOLO ON "IF THE KID CAN'T MAKE YOU COME". HE DOES THE SAME ON "SOMETIMES I GET LONELY" FROM PANDEMONIUM.....

I have the studio version of the Bird not so much. I was wondering why they left Chocolate off the Ice Cream castles release? That would have been better on this album there were really not alot of songs on this release. I wish "the kid can't make you come" would have been left off. "The Kid ...." is tooooo long it dies down twice! This is a good album but two more songs would have done this release better.

He had to have some hand in Jungle Love. He incorporated it in2 his demo for "You Turn Me Up" for Tamara And The Seen. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
