He's So Dull Video

I just saw this on VH-1 Soul this morning. This was my first time seeing it. It was a pretty good video (considering). They also showed several Vanity videos including Under the Influence and Pretty Mess (and a mess it was).

I love the earlier vids such as He's So Dull from Prince's associated artists, and he himself. Above anything else, they're performance pieces with a raw feel.

Yeah, I agree. The type of film that was used, the way they looked, it is a different vibe to it. And I always dug that. That's one of the things that hooked me as a kid when these videos were brand new. "He's So Dull", "Nasty Girl", "Controversy" (still today this day my fave Prince song and video), "Cool".

Nasty Girl looks like a such a sleazy, low-budget porno; did they ever show the video in it's entirety when it originally aired!? Controversy is so low-brow that you can actually see bits of the film crew here and there throughout the video.

Of all P's earlier videos, Little Red Corvette is the only one seemingly done with Pro-film techniques. Ironic considering it was his first top-ten.

There is a pop-up video on LRC. It discusses the director working with P. They said it was a one-take video and the director was told to keep up with him.

Is anyone else surprised that VH-1 even showed any Vanity-related videos? I thought she legally fought to keep as much of her Vanity-related music/movies off the radio/tv as possible??

My favorite part of "He's So Dull" is the end, where Vanity kisses the "dull guy" and then throws him down the stairs! LOL!

Does anyone know if Vanity ever made videos for "Mechanical Emotion" and "Animals"?

The only videos I remember seeing of her are "Nasty Girl", "He's So Dull", "Drive Me Wild", "Pretty Mess", "7th Heaven" and "Under the Influence"...

I know she led a crusade against getting her media pulled from the internet, but I'm not so sure if went the same route as far as television/radio goes.

As for additional videos, in her first Playboy spread, there's a picture of her in the same white dress from the Pretty Mess video; standing in front of what appears to be Vegas-themed, lighted lettering with an "on the set of her Mechanical Emotion video" caption underneath it. I've never seen the video myself or know if it was ever released.

Yes they did,if you're referring to the single edit of the song.Is there a longer video that includes the full-length album version??

There is actually, with full inclusion of the "7 inches or more" line. After the breakdown, it goes immediately to the "It's time to jam" and "Are you gonna come" chants.
