Ingrid Chavez

My local mom and pops just helped me get "May 19,1992"...

I forgot how much I loved this album.
In the 90's I had the cassettte.
But when I got rid of all my tapes----->(don't do this).. lol
I did'nt realize this would be one I would desperately search for later on.

Now that I have the cd...It all seems new.

"Heaven Must Be Near" has been on heavy rotation for the past week.

"like the rain on a hollow day".....

"clap your hands,stomp your feet!"

next up:::::"Hippy Blood"

any thoughts on this one?

p.s.
Is this the voice/vox, that would later appear on the Rainbow Children?

i've always had a soft spot for this album, just cuz it had such a different feel from everything else that ever came out on paisley park records. not that it was a GREAT album, just somewhat unique. "heaven must be near" is nice, though... nod

@ 6:08-"hit it"...that's when you know "he" was involved. lol

I'm liking this album, because I know Prince was involved more than he wanted to be. lol

I agree.This CD was a pleasant surprise.It's very trippy,moody and hypnotic.Not your typical 90s pop album.

I'm learning more about this album, the second time around.

wondered but never knew what the title meant..

"the title is the first anniversary of the date the cover art was photographed"
-wikipedia
btw,it contains several pieces of beautiful artwork.

I think it's worth having for "Heaven Must Be Near" and "Elephant Box" alone.

It's a great album, and a testament that a project can benefit from Prince not having all-consuming control over it.

This and the Jill Jones album were the only two great associated artist albums that came out of Paisley Park

JMHO of course

I've never heard the album myself, but I just watched the youtube
Elephant Box.....very different, no singing involved....but hypnotic,
like SoulAlive mentioned.

Is Heaven Must Be Near on the same order? Is there any singing involved?

they're all poems.

I'm listening to "Elephant Box 7".
It's so different from the original mix.

"Heaven Must Be Near" has lyrics.
It's very ethereal..Beautiful,leading into a hypnotic mix.
It actually flows into "Hippy Blood" really well.

"real"

I went digging in my collection and here's my Ingrid items.
the "Elephant Box" cd single is what sent me searching.

Anyone got any of this on vinyl?

I had the cassette,..damn!

"Hippy Blood" was a good song, but would'nt 8 versions of "HMBN" had made more sense? neutral

*great comments*

"Slappy Dappy" is the song that would have made the "BatMan" soundtrack perfect.

One of the best paisley albums.
the first listen i took made me wonder what it would sound like if she would get involved with david sylvian, and gues what a short while after she married him. The remixes are great. Specialy the mixes of heaven must be near (released as a promo 12". It was her 2nd album shyfish was released on a cassette just before she got prince his interest and its also a verry interesting piece of art.
just go and enjoy

I was surprised to find they were married.

I'm not sure if " Whispering Flame Trees" is on this album,
but i'm glad I found it.
It's an excellent tune.

thanks

they were and did some colaborations together, some on an album by sakamoto and some on the dead bees on a cake album. There was even a double single for i surrender containing two tracks with just ingrid on vocals. b.t.w. they are no longer together.
