Good Question - were they the worst Paisley Park act? The duo of Sean and Marc Douglas, aka Good Question, released an album on the Paisley Park label in 1988. These 2 kids were so ridiculously bad that they made New Kids On The Block seem like The Beatles.
Why did Prince get involved with something this absurd? When you claim that music is what drives you and then you sign a dufus act like that.....? the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

AGREED though he has done alot of the youth MPLS. Had he been signed anywhere outside of Paisley Park he would be a forgotten spec on the rap radar.

On another thread on music non prince some people were claiming that a lot of calculations and "SCIENCE" went into what a label released. And anything released was destined to manipulated to be a hit! PROOF of how stupid that is! [Edited 5/27/08 13:29pm]

I have the Good Question album and it really is terrible A bunch of faceless,late-80s,over-synthesized pop/dance tracks that all sound the same.

I never bothered with most of the Paisley Park artists. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I'd say maybe half of the albums are really worth getting. If you like Prince that is.

At least TC Ellis's record featured the butchering of a Prince classic or two! When it first came out, I kept it in my car, listening to it over and over again trying to see if there was something to like on it. It took a minute to really conclude that it was worthless.
Good Question I didn't get until maybe 10 years after it was produced, and it was dull as can be. I can't say I've listened to it more than once in my life. I vote Good Question? as the worst act on Paisley.

They are on a tie with
Dale Bozzio, Mavis Staples, TC Ellis, Ingrid Chavez, Carmen Electra, Mayte Garcia and all the cast of Goldnigga (xcept Prince) 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

I always thought Good Question was Paisley Park's version of Milli Vanilli -- awful, horrible stuff. I listened to it once. It has been collecting dust now for the past 20 years.

Like all artist related labels (With the exception of Maverick by Madonna), the products they release are either marginal, or suffer from a lack of promotion. Superior acts like The Family and Mazarati suffered from the fact Prince didn't give a flying fuck about their albums. A more marginal act Ingrid Chavez, had to plead to get her album released, and then it got no promotion, the comments "Don't you think Hippy Blood is a great single?, Princes reply, "yeah it's so good, it will change Music" (From Possessed by Alex Hahn) Warners just gave him Paisley Park as a good will gesture after having a huge hit with Purple Rain. Other examples Rolling Stones Records (although primarily a vehicle for their product too), and Rocket Records 1973-1992, which had a few early 80s hits, but not much in the way of ground breaking talent.
After awhile the only product that sells on vanity labels is that by the artist, Paisley Park's sales of Prince albums were what kept it alive. Even albums by George Clinton and Mavis staples were far off their best. Rather than brand Good question as the worst, they are merely one of the worst vanity and ego laded signings by this boondoggle called Paisley Park PS Does anyone remember Three Oclock or Dale Bozzio's Riot in English and what about Limited Warranty 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

I do. They were one of the best bands from the L.A. 'Paisley Underground' scene (the scene was dubbed Paisley Underground before Paisley Park, the song or label was invented). Other great bands from that scene were The Rain Parade, Green On Red, and The Dream Syndicate. Paisley Park Records just let The Three O'Clock rot on the vine. A damn shame. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it
