"Belle of St. Mark" is another gender-ambiguous lyric, as "belle" is a feminine word in French (gramatically and conceptually), yet this belle is a man according to the lyrics

Re: Get It Up. I never thought about it like that. I guess it could also mean he's telling his woman to turn him on, get him excited..... to "get it up" for him.

I just listen to it again...

I hear "Band" lol

Like I stated it earlier, they had a concert on radio when they first came out and he says it clearly.... biggrin

I can dig it...but why does he ask "Do U wanna see it? Shall I take it out?"?

That's even better if he says "take it out band" instead of "take it out man". That means the entire band is going to take their dicks out instead of just one man taking his out. lol
Andy is a four letter word.

Sydney

I must say I went back and listened to "The Time" because BG laid props on it so many times that I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything. I had always thought it sounded too bare and un-developed as a record and as a result "What Time Ist It?" and "Ice Cream Castles" became my favourites. listening to the record now with new ears I think it is brilliant and bold. I think Prince cutting through the mix so often is fantastic and I love his ad-libs over Morris's voice. Overall though I think I love the guitar playing most of all - the long electric solos. I am really suprised first time around I didn't pick up on this record but I love it now. Prince at his best.

Thanx...cool to know that u went back and doubled up on it. I've always stated that The Time 's first album is one of Prince's best work.
