Even though he's a world-famous guitarist with a penchant for eyeliner and feather boas and she's an ex-"Baywatch" babe who pole-dances in lingerie, they're among the happiest and most loving of all happy loving couples.




Carmen Electra & Dave Navarro: A Love Story In Pictures


Since paparazzi photos only tell a fraction of their tale, we let them give us the scoop firsthand in "Carmen & Dave: Love Story." Through totally candid interviews and home movies, Carmen and Dave open up about their first date, their first kiss, falling in love and making it work.

Of course, it didn't look like it was going to work at first. They were hooked up on a blind date, believe it or not, and even though Carmen and Dave each knew instantly that the other was The One, they almost let a small communication breakdown get the better of them. We'll let them tell it ...

Dave: So I'm going to Jones Café to meet Carmen for dinner. I'm picturing one of those little intimate booths, but it's the long, big booth. In come a couple of girls — "Dave, hi, she'll be here in a little while" — turns out that it's me, six of her friends, and her. First date. First date! So it was a little awkward for me.

Carmen: I didn't really know Dave, so I wanted to have my girls back me up.

Dave: But when I first saw her — it sounds corny, but everything was in slow motion. It's kind of like an old movie when two eyes meet across a crowded room and all the voices fade and everything gets blurry, except the person you're looking at.

Carmen: I got really nervous and sat down in the booth and looked into his eyes, because he has the most beautiful, intense eyes. I just felt like he could see right through me, and I was so shy and so nervous.

Dave: It was a weird, magical moment.

Carmen: It just felt so good to have those feelings and have butterflies. It was just really beautiful.

Dave: We hit it off right away, just started talking.

Carmen: I really didn't end up eating because I was so taken by him.

Dave: Sooner or later, the remainder of the table just eventually kind of dissipated. I didn't feel like anyone else was there.

Carmen: My friends felt like I completely just ignored them the whole time, which I did. God, from the time I walked in, I knew that was my man. I could feel it. It just felt right.

Dave: So we moved over to this nightclub and kinda hung out for about 15 minutes. After that, we came outside and it's two in the morning, and I'm like, "So, you know ... " — this is where I felt like I really blew it — " ... how would you like to go get some tea?" Tea. Sensitive tea guy. You know what she says? "I don't like tea."

Carmen [shrugging]: I don't like tea!

Dave: What I heard was, "I don't like you."

Carmen: Of course he did, because we're so much alike. I would think the same thing.

Dave: So I gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek good-bye.

Carmen: I was happy that he was a gentleman. I really wanted to take things slow, because I just really felt like we could have something special and I didn't want to ruin it.

Dave: I went home and called a friend and was like, "She hates me, I know it. I didn't even get a phone number."
