I just got this album and am still listening through it.

Some fun and beautiful music here. Great job on Prince's part

I liked a lot of the songs here. I was really surprised by that. It's not quite the same when Prince isn't the one singing, but it was a nice bonus that he decided to sing back-up in a lot of these. Equalivent exchange

I think I liked all of them except for the cover on "Brick House"... you know Prince and covers. They just don't work.

In terms of songwriting, Love's no fun was simply beautiful... but I think Mayte overdid her vocals a little bit, so it's kinda hard to listen to. Otherwise, the song is beautiful, but very sad. I can relate to the storyline

I got 2 copies for my birthday in August! I was also pleasantly surprised... I had heard some negative things about it.
I like it.

i payed a high price on this cd back in the days
and ive only seen it in the stores once

But when i got home and gave it a listen, it was well worth it

I can imagine what prince's versions sound like..asuming he has his own

The songs themselves are good but the straining in her voice gives me a headache if i listen to more than couple of songs. She is a really bad singer.

That's the whole reason why I only gave "Love's no fun" 3.5 out of 5 points when I was ranking them at first listen.
In most of the other songs, she's singing with what sounds like audial enhancement. Either she has loud back-up singers to help her out or they have the music drown her voice out.
When I asked to hear her voice naturally, I got my wish with that song... it doesn't work, unfortunately

I'd love to hear Prince singing that song himself because he can do the desperate act so well. That's probably why it's like that, because he's the one who'd done wrote it

Other than that, the album was overall good. Liked it a lot And of course, she's beautiful anything. Her voice isn't terrible, but it can't stand too well on its own without some"help"

I bought the cd when it came out thru 800 new funk, but like a fool I sold it, now I cant find.....idiot!!!

I thought the album was pretty fun. I was hoping that she'd do more. I was very pleasantly surprised.

CHILDREN OF THE SUN -good, fun party track
IN YOUR GRACIOUS NAME-good singing but not my favorite track
IF I LOVE U 2NITE- She really shows off her vocals on this OVERUSED track. Prince obviously loves this song but I don't understand why.
The Rhythm of your heart- This sounds a little like it was supposed to be on the Carmen album but it is ok. Glad that they lost the rap by Prince from the earlier version!
AIN'T NO PLACE LIKE U-cool guitar riff
HOUSE OF BRICK-THIS TRACK ROCKS! Worth the price of the CD
LOVE'S NO FUN- again, she steps up to the plate and delivers. Didn't like the fact that this is ANOTHER track that had already been released in another version but most people had no idea about that.
BABY DON'T CARE- fun track. Originally for Tevin Campbell as HOLLY DON'T CARE.
HOWEVER MUCH U WANT-wasn't this track supposed to be on the symbol album? Glad it got released as a duet with Prince. All of his associate albums should have a duet with the man.
MO' BETTER-One of the weaker songs on the album.
IF I LOVE U 2NITE (spanish)-same song, different language
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOY IN THE WORLD-same song, different gender

There were only 4 NEW tracks written for this project (CHILDREN OF THE SUN, AIN'T NO PLACE LIKE U, MO' BETTER, IN YOUR GRACIOUS NAME). The rest are older tracks, many of them released.

Overall, the album is fun with 2-3 stand out tracks. Not a 10 but enjoyable enough if you like that period of Prince's music (circa 1993-95).

Don't even get me started on "Ooh This I Need".

i actually really liked this cd, but an ex-friend took my only copy, never gave back, now i can't find another one!
