Taja Sevelle I revisted several of the paisley park projects this weekend and forgot how much I really enjoyed the debut from Taja Sevelle. "Love Is Contagious, "How Could You Do Me So Bad", and "If I Could Get Your Attention" are my favorites. Even the re-worked "Wouldn't You Love To Love Me" is good.
I know the single "Love is Contagious" did ok, but what happened to this album? It is enjoyable all the way thru. This should have sold well. Just wondering who else out there enjoyed this project..... |

I've still got the album - pleased to have it in my collection. I always thought she didn't get the right promotion at the time to push that album. | |

Taja doesn't have the greatest vocals,but I like "Popular"
she wants to be so popular it makes her stand out on the street at night and wave her skirt at every guy who passes by so popular If only she'd give love a try Her album has a few other decent tracks. | |

It was a fun album, but after a while, I only listened to "Love is Contagious," "Wouldn't You Love to Love Me?," and "If I Could Get Your Attention."
Taja was another unfortunate Paisley Park casualty. She showed some evidence that with time and training, she could actually sing -- and her range is SICK! She's also a decent writer. Her third album Toys of Vanity was a fantastic showcase of where her talent progressed out from under Prince's thumb. Definitely check it out. [Edited 4/29/08 18:26pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

NEITHER DID A LOT OF PAISLEY PARK ARTISTS (MAZARATI/JILL JONES/MADHOUSE/TONY LE MANS/MAVIS STAPLES).....CUZ THEY WERE TAX WRITE-OFFS!!!!! AND FOR THE RECORD.....TC ELLIS, GOOD QUESTION & GEORGE CLINTON DON'T COUNT. CUZ THEIR LP/CD/CASS JUST PLAIN SUCKED!!!!!  | |

Actually,Taja got more promotion than most Paisley Park acts received.Her album had three singles ("Love Is Contagious","Wouldn't You Love To Love Me" and "Popular") and there were videos for each single,shown on BET.This is considerably more promotion than Jill Jones's debut and Sheila E's third album received. | |
