As I mentioned, I don't think Sheila had anything to do with the track. As I recall, the track is listed with the copyright office as written by Prince (words and music). I don't think Sheila is even on the track. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Yeah, you can't believe the credits on any Jamie Starr-produced album In reality,Prince wrote and produced most of the music himself but for some reason,he often credited the group members for writing certain songs. The Family's album is another example.

P did this largely cuz he will take a jam from someone and then give them credit for something else that they didn't do. Their getting paid but not for the shit they really wrote. P did that on The Belle of St Mark. Jesse said that he played P the music to that years before and P didn't want to fuck with it. Then 3 years later,...WHAM! That shit ended up on Sheila's album. But then he asked Jesse if he could give him credit for Shortberry Strawcake, which Jesse didn't have shit to do with. But he's credited for it. P also did it with women. It was his way of giving them some money. And too, cuz he didn't want it to look like he was taking credit for everything. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

WB (or some reissue company like rhino or wounded bird records) should rerelease that Apollonia 6 album on cd! We must demand it. And when they are busy doing that, they better give us Mazarati's first album as well. All the original tracks plus all remixes!!
Some sought after 80's Warner Bros. releases, like Roger Troutman's 'The Saga Continues' got this treatment last year, so why not the Prince-associated records? Taja Sevelle even reissued her own Paisley Park album on her own record label. I wonder what sort of legal issues play a role here.

Another idea would be to re-release the song Blue Limousine as dance remix. It was criminally ignored the first time round, and I think it's their best song. Snoop Dog has re-worked The Time's Cool so how about a hot female artist re-working Blue Limousine

I LOVE IT, but i felt it was out classed by "a million miles" ; very catchy and soothing. Have u heard the Prince demo version? "Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know

I think this was the closest thing to a "hit" on the Appolonia 6 album. In fact I think this track could be done by a contemporary artist and it would work today. For me the highlight is the great track and playing - as usual prince's drums are fantastic. I never really liked any of Appolonia 6 vocals but the tune is so good with "Blue Limousine" that they dont offend me this time at all!

That is funny since it doesn't feature Apollonia at all. It really is a Brenda solo song. Technically, their song SEX SHOOTER was a minor hit (#85 on Billboard), but that was based on the use of it in Purple Rain. I have the U.K. 12". The only difference from the album version is there's a clean start to the song compared to the album where the entire first side is mixed together.

that happens a lot in the music biz. whatever credit is given as songwriter is not always true. songs can be bought, negotiated, or outright stolen. It is not surprising because the publishing is where the money is. Up and coming songwriters sometimes have to give away songs to major artists in order to get their foot in the door. A friend of mine has his song stolen by a major artist but he didn't have any recourse because it wasn't copyrighted.

Love the song!
Miss the sound. Some of my art was stolen recently. It really sucks when people do that. Art is the illusion of spontaneity.

Wow, Oh my gosh...that happen to my Brother and his music partner. His partner sent a track to Roxy records (Lenny Kravitz's label) One of their tracks ended up on Lenny's album. He used their music and changed the lyrics. They decided not to pursue any legal action because they didn't want to get black-listed (they were looking to get signed at the time. It was the album before Baptism...glad they both tanked. He's a thieving poser hack.
