why did mayte and prince split up does anyone know ??? and what year did they split ? they always looked so in love its such a shame i thought she was his soul mate ,i wonder if he regrets using her in so many of his videos

they didn't split- they are still together

I think it was the death of their little baby boy that put the nail in the coffin so to speak and no pun intended. I think she was hurting a lot and so was he. Instead of coming together, they were wedged apart because he seemed to blame her for the death of the baby citing her dietary habits being a problem. I know (what a low blow). I also think Prince started to carry on a relationship with his personal assistant, Manuela, which only made matters worse. There's an album where he thanks both Mani and Mayte in the credits (tres tacky).
