I was watching the Dave Chapelle Prince Charlie Murphy episode and wondered what did Miki Free do for Prince? I mean did he play with one of the bands or were they just friends?

In 1991,Jesse Johnson was kicked out of The Time.Once again,Prince wanted Micki Free to take over the lead guitarist position,but it never happened.

interestingly,Micki was dating Vanity shortly after she broke up with Prince.I saw alot of pictures of them together,out on the town in early 1984.This was when she was putting together her first solo album 'Wild Animal'.There was talk that Micki was gonna play guitar on the record.

and when she appeared on Soul Train to sing "Pretty Mess",she mentioned that Rick James "helped her out,gave her some advice" at Motown.This was obviously a dig at Prince,since he and Rick were bitter enemies.Also,on the 'Wild Animal' album,she had a duet with Morris Day ("Mechanical Emotion") who was also feuding with Prince at the time.It seems as if she was deliberately trying to get back at Prince for breaking her heart.

I love how people sugar coat the antics of some of the P associates.

I agree it was stabs at the purple one from all angles and i agree Jesse Johnson produced the best vocals out of Vanity....awesome if you ask me...we know she's NO Chaka Khan but i always thought that Vanity OOZED so much sensuality and sultryness that i could'nt handle it.....SHE was indeed a STAR to ME IMO.

With the combination of P OPENLY seeing other women, Vanity wanting more money than the producers were willing to pay her to be in PR and her heart being flat out broken,...she had to hurry up and get the fuck away from P. He was yanking the best material from V6/A6 and giving it to Sheila and putting her as his opening act on the biggest tour of his career.
