Madonna's company also has "The Riches" tv show. I noticed the logo the other night.
Madonna kicks Princes ass REGULARLY on her cds too. I am both depressed and saddened by that fact. Back when they both hit I thought- well Madonna won't last long but Prince is the real deal. Yet- whether I like her cds or not they are produced written and advertised well CONSISTENTLY.
I am also impressed that she had Alanis with number one songs on teh charts when she did not. Prince would NEVER deal with that from a male singer on his label.
That's why he should just go out and tour continously instead of trying to do business. Cause he does not do it well. But can play his butt off.

The difference between Maverick and Paisley is Madonna wasn't up in the studio making folks wear certain things and making them sound a certain way... Alanis Morissette just did her thing and so did the other artists...at the time...

Prince treated Paisley Park artist like his side projects...because he was bored...also, P doesn't really know what the streets want to hear...his stuff works because we like Prince but the other stuff never worked. Diddy seems to be a control freak like Prince but he is forming his artist to what is wanted by young people (white or black). That is the difference...Diddy may not be liked but he has out some great acts out there...Faith, 112, Biggie, Carl Thomas, Mary J Blige, Mase (sell out), Danity Kane..... just to name a few....

Where are Prince's people???? The only time we see them are on Fam websites or if they are opening up for him or something.

Diddy.....? Mary J. was under his boss at Uptown Records.. The rest may not have deals..

Everyone has there time... (and the window is shrinking fast for entertainers) The worse thing a real artist could do was be under someone else's wing publically. It's a killer in the long-run.

It's best to be on a label of a mogul who does not produce his own music. The best thing that Prince and others like him could've done was retire in 86.

The Streets: Prince changed his style to add HipHopppers in the early 90's. Then, Hip Hoppers wondered then,

"Why Prince change his sound?" lol lol falloff

People are fickle, and they grow tired of seeing you, no matter what you do.

I know but it was Diddy who produced Jodeci, Mary J and all of the other's on uptown. It was his vision, sound and style that brought these grouse to the for front. Prince isn't up on what the streets (white or black) is listening to. That is why his acts never made it unless it was following his album or movie. He was creating his fantasy land....

Ur delusional and you don't even get the point.... If Prince isn't up on things he ain't going to make any money. How well did he do between '95-'03???? who is delusional? Folks weren't buying his stuff because he was a little out of touch.... Diddy did produce Mary J's first joint...no one said anything about writing. Even Mary J and Jodeci would say it was just them in the studio all night and Diddy was just pushing them. I can care less about Diddy...I was making a point that Diddy was putting something together that would sell NOT be a mirror image / side project. This is stupid.... Why do you think he brought the game boyz in or did a debut with Beyonce? I can't stand folks that talk before thinking.... I know Prince is 50 but he still is in the business and he is still trying to get paid. Forget it...

i think it's too bad prince couldn't have or still couldn't do more with paisley park. he has the talent and ability to produce some great artisit's. i could never understand why he would put out a carmen electra cd when there are so many more talented singers out there waiting for their big break? it seems almost all his girlfriends had a cd of their own. rosie gaines, i think is actually talented...it's too bad he didn't do more with her.

Do you really think P was ready to go a live in the poor house doing this time?
Your not going to sell a lot of records when you are telling your record labal to go fuck themselves. I guess you never heard of payola and other forms of
promotion things P was not going to get while fighting with the label.

"I was making a point that Diddy was putting something together that would sell NOT be a mirror image / side project. "

Who the fuck cares if something sells that is still a piece of shit? P worst stuff is not as bad as some of the crap Combs as been involved with and no I am not a big fan of Mary J. Blige/P Diddy stuff or Jodeci.

I am well aware that the "Game Boys' were brought in to appeal to the RnB market of the 90's. Unlike a lot of you I did not think the world was coming to an end. P was trying to sell records he tried something different and it did
not work. He moved on why can't some of you.

"He used the "I can make you a star" move with all of the girls to keep them sitting around..."

He was trying to screw all the girls. He is not the first person to do this in the music industry and he will not be the last. It is what it is.
I think Rosie has a great voice but the music industry is fickle about looks. A black woman who looks like a real black woman does not have a snowballs chance in hell of selling a large volume of records.

“Michelle Branch, , Alanis, Candlebox, the Deftones, Muse's 1999 CD "Showbiz", and The Prodigy. “

Are any of these artists during anything right now? In the last couple of years?

I will answer the question for you. No. In addition, I do not care for any of them and none of those artist were able to make it beyond one or two CDs.

Oh REALLY? What about Deftones, who are currently recording their sixth studio album, to be released this fall. Muse have moved from Maverick to the main company, Warners, but they are massive (at least in Europe) and their latest studio album, Black Holes and Revelations, went double-platinum in the UK. Their previous album, Absolution, went gold in the US. Alanis Morrisette's seventh studio album will be released next month.
All of these artists get airplay, although Alanis might get the least airplay of the three. Muse is probably one of the biggest rock bands in the world today and Deftones have always had a solid fanbase and their new stuff always gets played on rock radio.

It's obvious you need to expand your horizons a little bit. The world is NOT America!

You are not getting my point....He was not doing well during that time period...no he wasn't broke but he wasn't doing Purple Rain/Batman/Diamonds numbers. When it comes to side projects he was doing just that...this is just something for him to get more music out....more of his music.... I don't care what Diddy did but you ask folks outside of the .org and most haven't even heard of New Power soul or NEWS.... I bet most of them know Diddy... I am not comparing the two...U can't touch P but Combs' projects were made to the main stream and what is going on at the time....
