The new "The Time" album

From Allhiphop.com:

Leave it to Morris Day to give you something to talk about. After rocking the Grammy stage with Rihanna, the gold suited Time frontman revealed that his pimped out bandmates have something new to offer fans.

"We plan on going into the studio and getting out on the road," said Day, whose remarks were upgraded by Time guitarist Jesse Johnson.

"We've got an album in the can that's so ridiculous," Johnson said. ."We can't believe we did it."

And while he had eyes for Apollonia in Prince’s classic Purple Rain and has since settled down, Day admitted that he still maintains an eye for the beautiful things.

"I think she is a sexy young lady," Day said about Rihanna. "I have kids as old as her, but I did enjoy it. That did not deter me from noticing at all."

I'm hyped, even with this little tidbit of info about them. What about you all?

They are successful at being the Time. They don't need Prince for any credibility.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't even like them that much lol

I was surprised that the quote came from Jesse
They have stuff in the can, with both versions of the band. Now if any of it actually getting released, thats another story

Let's hope it happens(and soon) : cool

Setting aside bait-and-switch type schemes, when was the last time a Prince album sold big? It's been over a decade really. In terms of sales, Jam and Lewis have done far, far better in recent years. So, success is possible for them without Prince. I just hope the record is as good as they say it is.

Step away from the purple Kool-Aid. Those guys are all talented, and have long commercial track records to prove it. Hell, Jam and Lewis got a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Prince is talented of course, but he isn't the only reason the band had success. Those guys contributed.

Oh... and btw, there are plenty of people who like The Time, but can barely stand Prince at all. In fact i would say that the majority of Time fans I come across are that way.

First off, they never stopped touring...I'm used to all the songs and dance routines. I wonder how all the new songs will go with the group and the audiences. You do know that they want to hear all of their classics. I wish them all the luck! I can't wait to hear their new stuff. I'm so glad The Time didn't bend when Prince wanted them to make a gospel cd LOL! That just wouldn't be right...Perfect tyming too! People are sampling that 80s sound again...Perfect planning dudes! thumbs up! LOL!
Um... let me warm up my vocals

I wish I said that. I agree. Jesse is talented. Jam & Lewis are obviously gifted. Monte Moir is a great songwriter. Jellybean even has own rock-funk thing that I dig. I just want them to abandon the youthful bullshit and grow up a bit. They should make that R&B/Funk that their musicianship allows.

I've heard an unreleased Jesse ballad called You're Still the One for Me that is very nice. I hope it is somehow included.
We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams.

IT'S PROBABLY HELD UP IN THE "PRINCE VS. WB" FIASCO. WHY DO YOU THINK "IT'S ABOUT TIME" WAS RELEASED?? THE BEST OF MORRIS DAY & THE TIME BUT "LIVE"!!!!
THERE WILL BE NO REMASTERD BEST OF ANYTHING PRINCE OR THE TIME UNTIL THE WB FIASCO IS STRAIGHTENED OUT!!!!!
REMEMBER- WB GAVE PRINCE THE ROOM TO CREATE A PROJECT FOR HIS MORE FUNKY SIDE. HENCEFORTH, THE TIME. SO AS MUCH AS WE LOOOOOVE THE THOUGHT OF A REUNION & TOUR, SOMEWHERE AT THAT TABLE WILL BE THE "SKINNY MUTHAFU**A WITH THE HIGH ASS VOICE"!!!!! WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT!!!!!
AND THAT'S WHAT TIME IT IS!!!!!

You need to put down the Time Kool-Aid. They are all talented but, P wrote all of their music and the whole concept seems to have sprung from his mind.
I think the band has enough talented people that they can make a go of it without him but give credit were credit is due.

No he didn't. Not at all. Not even close. Jesse, Morris, Monte and Terry all wrote songs for the band. So did other folks in the Prince camp. And it's not uncommon at all for groups to perform songs written by other people. Some people rag on The Time because Prince played all the instuments on the records, but that was ouside of the band's control. They could have performed the material themselves, Prince just insited on leaving them out of the process. And since they had a CONtract wtih Prince, and not WB there wasn't anything they could do about it. But reviewers noted during The Time's live sets that their collective musicianship exceeded that of their records (hello?). The fact that they were talented but unable to fully express that in the studio is essentialy why they broke up in the 80's. It's not right to give Prince ALL the credit for The Time, or for that matter, many of the songs released under his own name.

A lot of people are commenting on the success of the TIME without PRINCE.We tend to forget that the first album was made by a bunch of other people contributing most notably(did I spell that right?)ANDRE CYMONE.Is anybody else curious to hear a few ANDRE CYMONE produced cuts? I think the results might surprise a lot of people!!!!!

Im sorry my question and/or quote was directed to the REAL PRINCE FANS!!!The ones that know that Prince has not and WILL NOT give proper credit to most if not all of his ex-bandmates and projects. The ones that know that reading his liner notes you are only getting half of the story!!The ones that know that Prince gave ANDRE CYMONE a gold record(for the 1st TIME album)Because he did not give him his proper credit for his contributions on that album. Those were the people I was talking to!!! STAY IN YOUR LANE!!!!!

I believe you but why wait all this time for a new cd, after all these years they could have gotten together and done something outside of the Time, don't you think?
