After reading about Jill Jones' new blog on Prince (see other thread for details), I was wondering about what it must have been like to be in Prince's camp from '81-'87. In particular I mean all the women who associated themselves with Prince during that time.

Does anyone know how all the following gals got along?

-Vanity
-Susan Moonsie
-Brenda Bennett
-Apollonia
-Sheila E.
-Jill Jones
-Wendy & Lisa
-Suzannah

Obviously I know Vanity left before Apollonia and Sheila E. came along, but I'm sure they must have crossed paths with each other.

Did Vanity get along well with Susan and Brenda? How about Vanity and Jill Jones, who did back-up vocals during the tour?

Did Vanity have any interaction with Wendy, Lisa and Suzannah?

How about Apollonia and Susan/Brenda? Apollonia and Jill Jones? I've always wondered what would have happened if Prince had decided to pair up Susan and Brenda with Jill Jones after Vanity left, instead of bringing in Apollonia. Jones ended up singing on the A6 album anyway...

Can you guys imagine how crazy it must have been? All those women with their own Prince-produced projects going on during the same period? PLus, most of them were probably fighting for Prince's affection. I'm guessing they weren't all friends with each other. While Prince had so much success in his career during this time, his behind-the-scenes personal life must have been so messed up lol!

As we've mentioned before, Jill seemed to pick up all the slack and played supporting roles on many of Prince's projects, but surely it must have been difficult for her to see Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, and Sheila E get most of Prince's attention.

Does anyone know how Brenda and Susan felt about Vanity leaving and Apollonia coming in? I wonder how they felt when Apollonia left and Prince abandoned them for Sheila E.?

Were Wendy, Lisa, and Suzannah all impartial observers in this chaos?

So many questions! If anyone knows the answers, they would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!!

most of these people knew each other then and still associate with each other. the problems must have cleared after they left the prince fold bcos most of them, except vanity, brenda and susan were at the family jam a few years back.


sources say that vanity got along ok with susan but not so much brenda who mostly couldn't be bothered. prince liked to play the women off one another but prefered susan, susannah and sheila.


yeha there are plenty of threads on this but i couldn't tell you where they were.
