How in the hell was Prince able to pull the 'Undress' video from Youtube? He has no involvement in that song whatsoever He must own the rights to the name Vanity if he was able to pull that off. You have to understand how Web Sheriff and companies like that work. They are basically mini search engines that those companies use to find stuff using keywords. The person/company hiring them can submit their own keywords to add to their database. Since youtube has decided to bend over backwards for every Sheriff-like company on the net, nobody asks questions. Its done - no questions. Its easier for people to just start another account and repost the vid than it is to fight to have it done legally. Denise would have no problems having her old stuff pulled down as she seems to be currently running from her past anyway. [Edited 2/27/08 11:35am]

[Edited 2/27/08 11:35am] That I understand --- just not the correlation between Vanity and Prince after her departure from his camp and Warner Bros. I clicked on a link to what I assume was a performance piece of Vanity singing Undress, and it had been removed due to copyright mumbo jumbo courtesy of Prince/NPG. To my knowledge, Prince has no artistic/legal connection to the tune, other than the fact Vanity and Jesse Johnson were both once his recording artists before they made the split. The Action Jackson soundtrack itself was issued through the Lorimar label. It just boggles me that Prince/NPG would be able to have a form of media removed that doesn't contain any of his licensed work (that I know of). Also, Denise seems more keen on trying to completely obliterate her Vanity past rather than runaway from it Absolutely. I will try to find my version somewhere, listen to the rap and post the lyrics, Time needs to be my friend right now. (I mean actual time, like the clock....I must remember to be precise when posting on this forum about 'time'). Genius is born, not made. Prince is a Genius. No question. RIP Legend.

Interesting forum. I had no idea that JJ produced these tracks for Vanity. I thought those songs sounded rather Princely when I saw the movie, which I have to admit I own on DVD.
It's funny how so many former Prince [fill in the blank] went on to work with each other. Didn't Vanity and Morris do "Mechanical Emotion" after both went solo? perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Yeah, and Andre dated Vanity after she left P's camp. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

As a straight woman I have no problem stating that she is one of the most stunning women I have ever seen. It's hard to stand out among Prince's bevy of beauties, but she definitely still remains at the head of pack to me (along with Susan and Sheila E.). So while I am sure the other guys had their slew of beautiful women, Prince's probably topped them all, sparking a bit of competition. Obviously, this is just late night musing from someone who needs to back away from the computer. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

All I know is that she was with A&M records and that Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Tony Lemans were working with her on it. After hearing "Undress" and "Faraway Eyes", it sounds like Vanity was moving towards a Janet Jackson-type sound, which I think suited her voice/style quite nicely.
At the time, Tony had just signed to Prince's Paisley Park label and was dating Denise's sister, Patricia (Patty), and Denise was still with Nikki Sixx (engaged, in fact). Also, she had just done another spread for Playboy after completing the Action Jackson movie. I'm sure it had to've been a crazy time in her life. Her engagement was broken with Nikki, and Tony died in a car wreck. Things started falling apart. I've always wondered though, how much studio work had been completed. What other songs did Jesse have for Vanity? I had heard that Bonnie Raitt had been working with her as well around this time, if not only as support to get her through her drug and/or kidney problems. Anyway, I'd love to get my ears on whatever was happening at the time with all the great musical influences she had around her. Can you imagine a Nikki Sixx song with vocals by Vanity?? Crazy thought, eh? Maybe a video too! Now I know I'm dreaming... [Edited 2/29/08 1:14am]

There aren't too many details about Vanity's planned third album, but the tentative title was 'Wild Cherry'.Presumably, there was a song with that title.
