Yeah, it was me who said that P wanted to do Red Light for the 1999 album. Cuz it's true. That in no means says that P didn't take Do Me, which he did. I've stated on here a few times that Dre and P were close. Even as going so far to state what I 've gathered from Dre as to why he actually didn't go after P with a lawsuit. I have no doubt that to this day, they still don't keep in touch. They were never enemies. I can easily see where P wrote some checks and mailed them to Dre for Do Me. Doesn't put P in the clear, but I can see him doing that, sure. As far as P "asking" Dre for Red Light doesn't show how bold P is as much as it shows how close Dre and P were at that time. I think their relationship really are like two brothers who are close. If one made a play for the other's girlfriend and after ya'll broke up, he slept with her. There would be words and maybe even a shove or two. But if ya'll were really close to begin with, there's going to be forgiveness. I truly think that was the case with Dre and P. Andre is VERY similar to Prince. I say that to say that no matter what, no matter how big P had gotten, P always knew that nobody really knows him like Dre does. I think P has told Dre some things that he's never told any one else. Dre knows the "real Prince as well he should. I think that's why P ended up taking Do Me baby cuz he was hurt that Dre actually wanted to leave Prince. To P, it was more than just Dre leaving the band. To P, it was Dre was deserting him. Bailing on him. I think P relied on Dre emotionally. Especially at that stage. P wasn't just pissed, but he was hurt. So he lashed out at Dre the best he could. He couldn't jump on Dre...Andre would whoop Prince's ass. So he took Dre's cut. Remember, Dre was there through the end of the Dirty Mind tour. Then he bounced. Then Controversy came out. P was hurt and wanted to pay Dre back for quitting. That's really what that was about.

I finnaly fully get it. I actualy get it. Everyone needs to read this post...but most still wouldn't believe it b/c your "talking bad" about Prince.

Thanx Tora. People read what they want and definately believe what they want. It's not about me trying to convince anyone of anything. This is just my opinion.

Last time I talked to him (about 5 months ago) he was working with this lady who does neosoul. Kinda like Jill Scott.

it would be cool if his stuff could be released on c.d. i hear that he has a 4th album floating somewhere. andre is a good musician and producer he should come out with some new material. going through high school i always did like his music it, sad that peeps dog him out time after time about the early days and what he was trying to convey in his music. if you ever talk to him again by any chance tell him there are alot of us "new wavers" that still sing about kelly,s eyes and that we are still mastering the dance electric. andre as a fan of yours i say thanks for making it easier for a guy like me to grow-up and understand whats it like to make a lone statement like you did.if you ever record again i will be first in line to buy whatever you record. jimmie v.

In 1986 or maybe early 1987 (when I was 16), I called Andre's manager at the time (Mark Alan?) and asked when Andre's next album was coming out. He told me that Andre was busy with a lot of projects but that there'd definitely be a 4th album in the next year or so. Of course, we know now that the album was never released but he did continue to release songs through several other artists for many years. It would indeed be awesome to hear his versions of those songs and any other things he has locked away!! Dez did it for us. It's long past time for Andre. btw, it's cool that Andre doesn't go after fans, associated artists, and past bandmates for keeping his vibe alive online.

thumbs up!

The album I wanted to see released to the public was the Soulmates project - Andre, St paul peterson, Gardner Cole & Mic Murphy from The System. I've heard it and it's great. Bit dated now of course but it would have been hot back in the day.
