Has anyone purchased Denise Matthews' book? I remember someone had a link here where you could buy it.

The whole idea of this book is more shady than Slim is. She has been dangling this book in front of us for years now. From what I know, it's not even completed. She and Nikki Sixx share one thing in common. They talk alot of B.S.

Also, in interviews she has said that it won't be on some of the shadier areas of her past. NEWSFLASH: Enquiring minds want to know about that! We all like a bad girl gone good story and vice-versa, but I would be bored stiff if all it contained was ramblings about religion, salvation, and preaching to us about how to live in fear.

Nikki's book has done well, but that's because it was juicy. She was a real focus in that book and he depicted her in a very bad light, which he swears is the truth. On that note, at least he was honest and is not preaching and standing on a soap box telling people what to believe in. Sounds like he is coming to terms with his demons and trying to heal the best way he can.

Now those who have read anything I've ever said about Sixx will find the above statement a real stretch for me smile

I want the truth. And if she can't put that in print, then I'm not interested.

Her website hasn't been updated in years. She's had recent interviews which you can find on this site, one in Jet magazine to be precise.

I've got respect for her, but on the subject of this book, I'm loosing interest and patience (can you tell??). By the time it does come out, which I am doubting more and more, who will be interested?

Blue 22, I agree with you. Why so late for the book? I mean...Prince gave her the name Vanity! Ugh! And why doesn't she want to talk of her past. Her past made her a better person right? I am a true Vanity/Denise fan for life. She is beautiful on the inside and outside. But what would her book be about if she didn't talk of her past, movies, music? Ugh! I hope she releases it, I would certainly buy it. But I am beginning to wonder....

Im having doubts about it being released as well. Most ppl think shes a quack who just rambles on about things. Which is a bit harsh. But seriously if her book doesnt contain things from her past what is she going to write about. Especially if it contains two different sides, Blame It On Vanity, and The Black Book.

the problem is the book is so poorly written that she could never find anyone willing to print it.
And I have a feeling that she wanted to tell her story her way and is probably not willing to turn it over to a ghostwriter who would actually be able to turn it into something readable for fear they'd change what she was trying to say. PLUS readers would want to know things that she is not going to want to put in the book.

She has read excerpts from the book and it is barely comprehendible. It was exhausting to hear it. I don't even want to think about attempting to read it. Plus, it is not like she was going into any real details about her experiences. She was just babbling on and on with a bunch of silly metaphors for shit only she'd understand.

Someone once said that if you cannot speak freely of your journey in life, then you are still unhealed. Maybe this is the case with her. Maybe she is still not willing to accept responsibility for her decisions in her past. I'm sure we've all made a few mistakes we would prefer to forget. But that's what life is all about. Learning and moving on. At least she was really living and experiencing life. She did things most people only dream of doing.

I love the title 'The Black Box'. It's perfect and creative. Everyone knows that when a plane goes down by some disaster, the black box holds the key and answers to all that happened that led to it's downfall...if it can be found.

After all these years people are still sketchy about what really happened with Purple Rain and her relationship.

I totally agree with the comments abour her rambling on incomprehensibly. And also about wanting to be in full control. Even Nikki Sixx had the sense to get help with writing and editing. That's the only way it made the New York Times best seller's list. Now if people were interested enough in a raggedy-ass 80's band like Motely, then surely her association with all of that and Prince will equal mega sales. Motely fans are die-hard and any little mention of any of them will draw them out of their little heavy metal holes.

Maybe she doesn't know the interest (if there is any) that people would have. Surely her former bandmates and other Prince personnel, Prince, actors she has worked with including Billy Dee Williams, John Stamos, the music business, managers, Motley, Adam Ant, Berry Gordy, what really happened with Purple Rain, Playboy, all these insights could be really interesting. But then we have the family stuff, that I suspect may be the real issue here. Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows.

Anyway, I want to play psychic for a day.
My prediction is:
The Black Box is lost forever.

I hope I'm wrong. Afterall, I'm only a psychic for a day.

I hate to say this but I think she a little bit crazy now. I am starting to prefer the old Denise. I love her music and her movies. We would have never known Denise if it weren't for her past. I hope she doesn't let her fans down. But I'm afraid she may.

I agree with everything you said. She should either release the darn thing or stop talking about it! I'm sick of waiting for this thing. And if she's not really gonna give us "the dirt",then I don't wanna read it anyway. If she's not gonna talk alot about "the Prince years",then who will want to read this book? The only people who care about Denise and her story are the Prince fans who remember her from Vanity 6.I have alot of respect for her,but she needs to stop it with all the promises and delays.Put up or shut up!

Exactly. And she should stop telling journalists about it. It's a bit silly really.

Also, this book is supposed to cost over $200. Can you imagine? It is supposed to contain some of her original artwork. Most people will have prints made of their artwork to include with a book.

I'm not paying $200 for a book unless she's delivering it herself. Then I can ask her my questions personally.

$200?!! No way am I spending that much for a book mad What's wrong with her? Why does she think that HER story is worth $200? It's not like she was a major superstar. She's only known by the Prince fans who remembers her from Vanity 6.

Ain't no goddamn way in hell I would pay $200 for a book by Vanity/Denise Matthews! Her life story is not worth that much. What will the book talk about: bad childhood, makes D-movies, meets Prince, drops bad records, becomes a drug addict, damn near dies and finds God. Wow... how many times have I heard that one?

First, she needs to apologize for shit like Tanya's Island and Skin On Skin. Second, quit telling that same tired ass story she's been telling for the past 15 years. Third, just put the damn book out with a price that mofos can afford!

$200? To hell with some artwork! Bitch... I want some head!

Now this is what I want to know about! What the hell was she doing with him?
But then again, like attracts like.

With Vince Neil lead singer of Motley Crue. This girl was all up in the Crue. And we all know these guys lived and died a few times.

She copied his whole style for Skin on Skin! That's just unoriginal!!

And of course, this man.

Denise you just got to know that if this book doesn't contain at least one of the above, it 'aint gonna sell! duh

Yes she did mention in Jet something about Prince and the book.

I don't think she dated both Vince and Nikki. She was around all of them because of Nikki.

BTW, Vince Neil couldn't read a book let alone write one. Not a nice man and that's from me seeing personally how he treated people.

She is a natural beauty, but what is the deal with these women. It reminds me of one of my fav Prnce songs, The Beautiful Ones. And Nikki referred to this too, something to do with beautiful women being crazy. lol But that's funny coming from him! Maybe they suffer so much attention, WRONG attention, that it messes with their heads. But then again, she didn't have the best start in life, and neither did Halle.

I have other pics, one of them backstage but finding some of this stuff is like trying to find Bin Laden, you know it will be a treat, but so much work.

Krystal, i totally agree with you. I can't see how people compare Denise Matthews to Halle Berry. Denise is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She is beautiful inside and out. There is no comparison to Halle or any woman when it comes to Denise' beauty.

But I wonder what those who were seeing her often would say about that. We only saw her made up for a performance or in photos. If you had to see her everyday in sweats, we might have seen a different version of her.I remember an interview one of Motley's managers gave saying that she had turned up to their rehersal again looking like sh**. He also said that her personal hygiene was not at its best. They said her behavior was odd, and that she would jump on the stage and start throwing Prince moves randomly, just out of nowhere while Motley were trying to reherse! Vince said that.

I know for a fact she reads this board because she posted an announcement for her book on here a good while back. So I hope she can see that we love her, but this teasing us with this book has got to end. Maybe she could just tell us that she is not ready to release anything yet. But then if thats the case, then please stop telling us about it in interviews. She doesn't owe us anything. But don't promise then.

And I totally agree, about Halle. I tend to call Halle cute. Denise is beyond cute. Her beauty is unmatched. Halle doesn't come close, with her crazy self.

Denise can not write about memories she can't recall, I believe she was wayyy too high to remember. Too bad really, I really adored her when I was a teen, and support her now.

At least she found Jesus before her body shut down completely. Thank God we still have her.

Yes, I agree she might have done some things that she isn't proud of, but her story would be a classic cautionary tale. This is what "witnessing" is all about. $$$ is also a factor here, and it seems that if she could recall all those little details to place them in the book then maybe she could get her story published, and make her money. Money that could help further her ministry.

In all that drinking and drugging... do you really think she can recall, or even make sense of all the details, that make up her story, and the reasoning behind it.

I mean think about it... if you ever woke up with a severe hangover can you recall all the details of that night a year later? wink How about 10 years?

Nikki Sixx was in a dazed herioin stupor for over a year (and then some) and the man kept diaries about it all! Users don't develop amnesia. They are aware of most of whats happening most of the time. I just read Slash's autobiography and it's the same thing. He was practically comatose and he remembers details of most of it, and where he doesn't, he says, 'I don't remember exactly, but so and so was there and I was doing that, which I defintely remember'.

I think there are other reasons behind her dragging her feet on this one. Not that she can't remember all he details.

I agree there might be other issues... but remember not one of these men you mention, got high enough to need dialysis like Denise does. She almost died. So she ravaged her body more than these men...and if they have a hard time recalling specific events, well... shrug you can't expect her to either.

I just hope she gets her entire story published, she always had my interest, that hasn't changed in over twenty years. Denise just needs to get it together period, what ever the reason.

Nikki Sixx died twice from an overdose and was revived. The second time he almost didn't make it. So your statement is not correct. Also, Vince Neil suffered alcohol poisioning, which can be fatal. Drug abuse affects everyone's body differently, so not every drug abuser will need dialysis. It might affect other's respitory systems or their nervous system. You can't compare the fact that she needs dialysis with with how badly others were affected. They are all lucky to still be amongst the walking dead!

I'm afraid I can't accept that she can't remember. I agree with others who have suggested she needs some psychiatric help and that she has a selective memory. But she still wants to be famous because she is in Jet and keeps promising us this book. After reading this thread, I would think that she will either back off about it or deliver the goods, or else she will drive everyone else crazy.
