I even love the bit that everyone hates where Apollonia goes all ooh ooh oooooh!

This is the first time I've heard Spanish Villa, I take it that's Prince on guitar?

Oh, that's cool.

I like Spanish Villa alright, but Sex Shooter is still my fave. My friends and I always make fun of the woo-hoo-hoo part.

Yes,there is a Vanity 6 version of "Sex Shooter".I have it on bootleg.It was recorded in the spring of '83,before Vanity left Prince and quit the group for a solo career.The Vanity 6 version is longer,funkier and alot more fun,imo.The lyrics are the same,but Vanity comes across as more believable,more convincing.She plays the "nasty girl" role alot more effectively than Apollonia ever could.She repeatedly demands "All the nasty people sing it!" and it sounds so genuine,unlike the forced vocals of the Apollonia 6 version.

I like the way it ends,with Vanity getting ready to undress for everybody She requests everyone's participation,including the residents of New York!

This part is similiar to the "Uh...it's time to jam" chant from "Nasty Girl",with Vanity once again leading a chorus of chants.After she apparently takes it all off,we can hear Prince letting out a scream.He's obviously a victim of her "love gun"...lol...I guess she reached her target.

Learn something new every day, I bet Prince's back catalogue is heaving with the weight of songs recorded by multiple associated artists. I wonder if there are any shared tracks with good 'ole Jill.

I wish Vanity had stuck around for the 'Purple Rain' movie and a second Vanity 6 album.Can you imagine how a second V6 album might have sounded? I bet this would have been Side One...

This is my favorite Minneapolis style album of 1984, even moreso than "Purple Rain". Side 1 is pure perfection, "Happy Birthday, Mr. Christian", "Sex Shooter", and "Blue Limosine". Side 2 has some pretty good cuts too. Prince gave the ladies all the funk that year.

I've heard both versions, and for those who don't know, Apollonia attempted to sound like Vanity on her version of "Sex Shooter". All the "oohs" and everything-it sounds like Apollonia listened to Vanity's version over and over again to get it right. While neither were good singers, Vanity's version (the version I prefer)is a little more on-key, and as others have said, more believable. It sounds a little funny hearing Apollonia say "All my nasty people sing it" towards the end...

Either way, I've always liked the beat of the song.
