Dez Dickerson and the Modernaires?

Somethings up yall... I'm curious about the song heard in the movie Purple Rain... "Mordernaire" Okay; so at the time it remained unreleased correct? I understand like every song in that movie was released around the same time but this... It wasn't was it? What's the story? Instead I see it on some kinda compilation disc I've never seen before released years later... wtf?
life is but a dream...

It was never released at the time cuz Dez didn't get a record contract from anyone.

'Dez released all his Modernaires material -including this song- in an overpriced CD-pack a few years back. I never heard it but some people here said it wasn,t good.

I have the Dez cd. It stinks. The only song worth having is Modernaire.

TO ME IT WAS A TREAT TO HEAR THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF "AFTER HI SCHOOL", WHICH COULDA BEEN IN ANY OF THOSE 80'S TEEN MOVIES!!! WHAT A LOTTA PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE IS LABELS DIDN'T WANNA SIGN DEZ IF HE WASN'T GONNA PLAY THE "PRINCE GAME". I APPLAUD DEZ FOR STANDING ON HIS OWN TWO. HIS MUSIC WAS/IS HELLA GOOD!! SOME PEOPLE JUST NEED TO TAKE OFF THEM BLINDERS!!!!
BESIDES, DEZ DID DO SOME SHOWS W/BILLY IDOL AFTER HE LEFT PRINCE. THEN HE RECORDED CHRISTIAN ROCK. HIS BOOK WAS THE TRUTH WITHOUT MUDSLINGING. SO I SAY-GO DEZ!!!!!

I think the material on Dez's cd set is decent. Musically it's on a completely different page than Prince's material during the period it was recorded and that sits fine with me.
