. I do not really give a crap that you think W&L are the greatest things since sliced bread:-o It is your opinion you are entitled to have it. Just do not try to beat the rest of over the head with it. Which you do continuously and I am not the only person who finds it annoying.

I can tell one thing that is a fact. W&L have no chance in hell of selling more than a few copies of any CD that put out under their own name. I know you will rush to their website to scope of a few copies.

okay, so how is voicing my own personal opinion beating others over the head...isn't this what an online forum is about? nuts

i just love how you get all violent over all this...i can just vision you pounding your head up against the pillowed walls. lol

I personally think W&L were ahead of what pop music wanted from female performers. So they got lost in the shuffle even though their albums are very solid.

i agree with your point, but i'd also say that wendy & lisa's albums being mostly "solid" rather than anything else is one of the main reasons they weren't bigger. all three of their 1987-1991 albums are sophisticated, well-written, elegant and consistent. but they really aren't that exciting. i cant think of a wendy & lisa song that has ever really blown me away, that has ever stunned me. even on prince's last three albums, which are all worse than every wendy & lisa album, there's at 1-2 tracks on each that are better than any wendy & lisa song ever. w&l are very very good, they just seem to be incapable of creating real fireworks

i think to prince's comment about nobody painting colors like wendy and lisa do and i would have to agree with both of your statements...their songs take repeated listening to really appreciate and that is the anti-thesis of pop music. yet their are pop artist...so for the casual listener their music ends up being out of reach...but for those willing to delve in the reward is ten fold...and music isn't the only medium that has this category of art...film is another example...and that's why i hope wendy and lisa one day embrace their indie-creed. there is an audience for their type of music...its just way way smaller then mainstream pop.

but with that being said, when they add their flourishes to other artist (prince, sheryl crow, seal) it works wonders...but only in small doses...

now, where i disagree with you ghost is when it comes to creating great songs...a song like "bowl of cherries", "waterfalls" or "mother of pearl" are classic songs that blow me away...

it's interesting, i was watching oprah the other day and she was talking about how far the public has gone in accepting gay and lesbian artist...while wendy and lisa weren't out during the 80s and 90s they did have a heavy granola factor to them that just didn't make them mainstream fodder...heck, even today, where are the folk/pop/soul artist making a killing...its a nitch market...which brings me back to hope they will one day embrace their indie-creed.

mother of pearl & waterfalls would definitely be two of the w&l tracks that have come closest to "blowing me away"...

Well- depends on what you like. I like great hooky songs, but I can also get into a great album that might not have "single" type tracks. There albums consistently grew on me where Princes last few albums - the songs I liked - I grew to dislike. Mostly cause it's old hat and derivative of better songs he has done. I think if W&L had gotten heavier airplay they could have done extremely well on the pop side. On the other hand I really lie the scoring and producing they have done, so I wouldn't want to have missed all that.

Umm, that was my point. nuts

and while you are free to have your own opinion about wendy and lisa's work others have the right to disagree and love their albums...i for one would put any of wendy and lisa's albums (including the boot friendly fire) up to anything prince has done the last decade...and that's because i personally prefer their music. i am not going to force you to agree with me because i know you have your own personal taste...

but...can you do the same?

though I don't watch modern TV shows- I'm glad to hear that Wendy and Lisa are doing well. Breaking into a male-dominated field isn't easy and I know they're gonna do very well. I wish them all the best.

Wendy and Lisa are about half way done with their new album. They are working on Heroes, the Bionic Woman and they will start work on a Heroes spinoff called Origins in the new year. Busy, busy, busy!!!

They did an interview for an internet show called Visions and Sounds about a month ago. If you want to hear the interview I got permission to post it on their myspace page so it should be up in about a week. www.myspace.com/gbnmusic.

but then lisa did just have a baby...so maybe they have other priorities...

Lisa had a baby? eek

How? With who? biggrin

She had a baby on Feb. 17th of this year(a girl)! The How and with Who thing is unsure( she prefers to keep her life private). But however she did announce at a show(before having the baby) that she was going to be a mother!
